FKSH ADVANCES HUMANE STRAY MANAGEMENT THROUGH 3.0
SEREMBAN, NEGERI SEMBILAN — Furrykids Safehaven (FKSH) successfully participated in 3.0, held in conjunction with IJM Land’s Paws to Home community event, translating responsible pet ownership and humane stray management into measurable action.
The programme recorded:
--> 31 sterilisation procedures
--> Six successful adoptions
--> 12 pet-licence applications
--> Additional vaccination and microchipping efforts
For FKSH, these outcomes represent more than figures. Every animal sterilised helps prevent future unwanted litters, every vaccination protects animal and community health, every microchip strengthens accountability, and every adoption gives a rescued animal the opportunity to begin again.
As a frontline animal welfare organisation caring for more than 2,000 rescued dogs, FKSH continues to advocate for solutions that address the root causes of stray overpopulation—uncontrolled breeding, abandonment and irresponsible ownership—rather than relying solely on short-term and reactive measures.

Sterilisation remains one of the most effective and humane tools for controlling stray populations. However, sustainable progress requires more than isolated neutering exercises. It must be supported by vaccination, microchipping, licensing, responsible feeding, adoption, public education and long-term collaboration between local authorities, NGOs, veterinary professionals, corporations and communities.
Shelters cannot continue absorbing an endless number of animals created through uncontrolled breeding and abandonment. We must stop the cycle at its source. Prevention is not merely an animal welfare measure—it protects public health, improves community safety and reduces the long-term burden on councils, shelters and taxpayers,
FKSH remains committed to doing the difficult work on the ground, but meaningful change cannot be carried by NGOs alone. Every sector must accept its responsibility. When prevention, enforcement, education and community participation operate together, humane stray management becomes achievable.

FKSH thanks Majlis Bandaraya Seremban (MBS) through its pet-licensing initiative and welcomes continued collaboration with the council in strengthening sterilisation, microchipping, responsible ownership and evidence-based stray management across Seremban.
The organisation believes sustained cooperation between MBS and experienced local animal welfare groups can deliver practical solutions that protect both residents and animals.

FKSH extends its appreciation to IJM Land for providing a platform that brought animal welfare directly into the community and demonstrated how the corporate sector can contribute meaningfully to responsible pet ownership and stray prevention.
FKSH also acknowledges , the programme’s national framework and supporting movement; fellow Negeri Sembilan NGO NS Happy Paws; the Seremban District Information Department; participating veterinary professionals; and volunteers from Soka International School Malaysia and MILA University.
FKSH further thanks every volunteer, adopter, pet owner, community member and supporter who contributed to the programme’s success.
IJM Land also presented a total contribution of RM1,000 to FKSH and NS Happy Paws in recognition of their continued animal welfare efforts in Negeri Sembilan.

3.0 reinforces FKSH’s position that Malaysia must move beyond repeatedly managing the consequences of stray overpopulation and begin confronting its causes.
Humane and sustainable stray management must be built around three fundamental actions:
PREVENT — Sterilise to stop unwanted breeding.
PROTECT — Vaccinate to safeguard animals and communities.
PROVE — Microchip, license and manage to strengthen accountability.
FKSH will continue advocating for structured, transparent and measurable programmes that combine animal welfare with responsible ownership, public safety and meaningful community participation.
