A PRECEDENT HAS BEEN SET! 🔥

THIS demonstrates checks and balances. It has taken time and resources to get to this win for the dusky langurs, but most things start difficult.

The sacrifice of the 20 dusky langurs in Port Dickson, in 2021, will now go on to inspire more Malaysians to help prevent injustice against wildlife, ensure government accountability, instill respect for lives, and work together to find ways to coexist.

Culling - is a highly control, targeted removal of an individual or a group of individuals. But how can that be done humanely and effectively - when Perhilitan cannot even tell apart different langur species, let alone different individuals of the same species!

Culling is controversial, indiscriminate killing is not. Indiscriminate killing was reportedly what had been carried out in Port Dickson in 2021 - is never acceptable.

Trials will continue on:
i) 18.7.2024 (afternoon session) for the Expert Witness; and
ii) 8.8.2024 (full day) for the 4 Perhilitan Officers who shot the langurs.

We refer to the Trial held on 12.6.2024 before YA Tuan Muhamad Haldar, wherein Ms Pavitra Loganathan appeared for the Plaintiffs and Puan Amalina appeared for the Defendants.

The Plaintiff's Expert Witness has given her testimony. The Plaintiffs has closed case on even date. The Defendants witnesses will take the stand the next Trial dates.

The next Trial dates has been fixed on 19.6.2024, 18.7.2024, 7.8.2024, 8.8.2024 and 9.8.2024.

Update: The lawsuit started on 22 July 2021, to seek a declaration - that the act of mass murder of the endangered Dusky Langurs (in May 2021, Port Dickson) by PERHILITAN is illegal.

We refer to the Trial at the Seremban High Court held on 8.1.2024 before YA Tuan Mohamad Haldar bin Abdul Aziz wherein Mr Rajesh Nagarajan (middle) and Ms Pavitra Loganathan (left) appeared on behalf of the Plaintiff and Ms Amalina Othman appeared on behalf of the Defendants.

The First Plaintiff, Puan Nurul Azreen (right) had testified as an eye witness of even date.

The expert witness, Dr Susan Cheyne, a primotologist, for the Plaintiffs, will provide her testimony on 23.5.2024.
The Defendants' witnesses will take the stand on 10,11,12, and 19 June 2024.

The UK’s Action for Primates, and the US-based Lady Freethinker said they were dismayed by the Malaysian authorities’ failure to take action over the report, adding that the suspected perpetrator’s actions were sadistic.

A report had been lodged over the torture of baby long-tailed macaques, with the alleged perpetrator selling the footage on a Telegram group.

It's estimated the court processes involving the monkey torture case could last for 4 years or so. That's why we need about RM20,000 to help us with the costs in holding the authorities accountable for inaction against animal abuse.

If there's any misunderstandings - no, it's not one unhinged individual torturing baby monkeys. It's a business enabled on social media.

It's got a whole global conglomerate of people who want it, people supplying for it, and middle persons managing the platforms, marketing, subscriptions, etc. Hence, the term 'p**n'.

Contents on social media are being regulated for p**n and violence alike, it only makes sense to extend regulations on to animal abuse.

"Malcolm Plant, the author of a peer-reviewed paper on the subject, Making the Link, says that put together, Romania’s street dog culling, violence rates and the study’s findings demonstrate a clear point: witnessing brutality to animals desensitises young people and makes them prone to aggression for life. “It’s highly likely that an animal abuser will also be abusing humans. We found not only have most animal abusers been exposed to violence and abuse, but that this has resulted in reduced empathy and a normalisation of aggression,” he says."
