The ocean is our planet’s blue heart. it gives us life, connects us across cultures, and sustains billions. Yet it faces rising threats from climate change, pollution, and unsustainable practices.

Here in Sabah, reefs like Mabul and Sipadan are treasures of global significance. Protecting them means safeguarding heritage, livelihoods, and biodiversity.

On this World Ocean Day, let’s commit to listening to the ocean, learning from it, and acting boldly to defend it. 🌊

Sharks have a pretty terrible PR team.
They’re often feared, misunderstood, and blamed for far more than they deserve — but healthy oceans actually depend on them. As predators, sharks help keep marine ecosystems balanced and support healthier reef systems overall.
Without them, the effects can spread throughout the food chain and impact entire reef ecosystems.
Protecting sharks isn’t just about saving one species 🦈🌊

The Power BEHIND SEAS🌊

This is our Mabul Eco Youth Team…🌏

Meet Rimal!

One of the newest members of the team — and the son of our legendary security guard, Ghani 💚 Ghani helped build both the new turtle hatchery and the plastic project building… and to be fair, Rimal was there helping too!

Rimal is quiet, incredibly dedicated, and picks things up super quickly. He’s the type of person who just gets on with things without needing to be asked twice. He also never turns up late… in fact, when he first joined, he used to arrive way too early 😅

His commitment and work ethic have made him a huge asset to the team, and it’s been amazing watching him settle into the role so naturally 🌊

Rimal’s favourite pizza is pepperoni or chicken BBQ 🍕
His favourite thing to do is gaming and relaxing 🎮
He hates waiting around or unnecessary delays ⏰
And one day hopes to travel and experience different cultures 🌍

His favourite ice cream flavours are chocolate and cookies & cream 🍦

Hopefully, it is not too late for the appreciation posts.

June 1st marks World Reef Day, established to raise awareness and remind us why reefs are so important.

Why Coral Reefs Matter 🪸🫶🏼
Often referred to as the “rainforests of the sea,” coral reefs are among the most biologically diverse and essential ecosystems on Earth.

Above is a picture of our small and humble house reef, The Froggies. Stretching just 100 meters, it may be small, but it is full of life beneath the surface.

Have you guys been waiting for our beach clean post? (we hope you do🥹🤏🏼)

Anyways as the saying goes, Saturday Beach Clean Day! This week’s beach clean was another level! The local kids joined with mask, ready to catch floating trash🤙🏼

We thanked all Scuba Ju**ies staff, guests, Mabul Eco Youth, and the local kids who participated, your effort make a great impact 🫶🏻

Protecting turtles doesn’t start in rehabilitation.
It starts with everyday choices.
From reducing waste to being more aware in the ocean, small actions can reduce the risks turtles face.
Because the goal isn’t just recovery—
it’s prevention. 💙

Rehabilitation gives injured turtles a second chance.
Time to recover.
Time to rebuild strength.
Time they wouldn’t have in the wild.
But it’s only one part of the bigger picture.
Because the goal isn’t just to treat injuries—
it’s to reduce the need for rehabilitation in the first place. 🌊
