Background
Mahi Difu Child Care and Development Organization (MDCCDO) was established in the year 2006 as NGO and legally re-registered with Charities and Societies Agency in 2009 with the objective of preventing abject poverty and unemployment through participation and sustainable and integrated development projects. Over the past 7 years, it has been implementing multidimensional development Pro
grams and made significant contribution to the overall poverty reduction effort of the country particularly focus on Afar pastoral communities. Board of Directors composed of senior prominent persons over see MDCCDO. The board of directors is accountable to the general assembly that is responsible for the overall organizational programs. The general manager and vice-manager and its staff at the head quarter and project level are managing the organization. Since its establishment, in October 2006, MDCCDO has been implementing various projects in Afar region. These are Semera Orphans, Vulnerable Children and Elders Aiding Project, Briforo Women’s Development Initiative Project, Integrated Hope for Afar Women and Girls Project, Integrated Orphans and Vulnerable Child Care and education project, Mahi Difu Education for Orphans and Vulnerable children Project, community Based HIV/AIDS Awareness creation, prevention and controlling project and weaving project etc. In accomplishing these projects, MDCCDO has got a great deal of experience with various donor organizations like U.S. Embassy, UNICEF, Japan Embassy, Global Fund through the Afar regional state HIV/AIDs Prevention and Control Office, HCI, Afar regional state, DPPA and other donors
