Science Fair for Young Children (SFYC-ZONE1)

Science Fair for Young Children (SFYC-ZONE1) Science Fair for Young Children Science is best learnt by doing and reasoning—instead of merely reading and remembering.

Students of science, particularly the young, should be encouraged to learn science by doing science projects that bring ‘to live’ underlying scientific concepts. Recognising this need, a group of community based non-profit organizations developed the Science Fair for Young Children, or SFYC, an annual event that has been spurring primary school children to discover the joys of science since 2007.

SFYC is organised jointly with Tamil Schools at the local, state and national levels. Over 5,000 children participate in SFYC every year. Besides organizing state and national level the SFYC organizing team also encourage the schools to conduct school level science fair. We belief that instead of state and national level school level science fair will give more impact to students interest in science subject. We had requested the central working committee to allocate RM400 per school to support them to conduct school level science fair. This year, we estimate 40 schools to participate in Zone 1(Kedah & Perlis) science fair. The Zone 1 science fair is scheduled to be held in 23rd April 2011. We seek everyone's support in various field, either volunteer basis and even financial support. The great happiness in seeing the young ones learn so much and being excited is just priceless.
