OBJECTIVES
To provide a credible advocacy platform for stakeholders to campion the mission. To safeguard and protect tourism natural assets by introducing or promoting better management practices of natural assets in various forums, established working relationships with NGO's and other relevant expert groups, establish sustainable funding mechanism to finance conservation and support the Sabah Wi
ldlife Department as keeper of the Sanctuary. To develop and implement better management practices that ensures the sustainable development of the tourism industry in K-CoL. KiTA will develop and implement a credible "code of conduct" for wildlife viewing, good environmental practise including socially responsible practices and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop a credible certification of "sustainability" of lodges. To develop and implement a global brand name for tourism in K-CoL by aligning members along the brand name :Kinabatangan-Corridor of Life", develop a unified communications message regarding the K-CoL and to educate all stakeholders and the public on the brand and the unique selling points of K-CoL. CONSERVATION PROGRAMMES
1) Conservation Levy
It is a self imposed levy by members of KiTA, whereby members contribute RM10 for every guests that stay at their respective accommodation facilities. This ensures a self-sustaining financing mechanism to support conservation efforts in K-CoL. The amount will be used to fund conservation efforts such as K-CoL patrolling and enforcement units, tree planting activities, community projects etc.
2) Tree Planting
KiTA members will also be incorporating "tree planting" activities in their tour packages. This allows for local community participation through the supply of tree seedlings, maintenance of planted trees and provide a service to plant trees on behalf of the visitors and tourists. MEMBERSHIP
Membership entrance fee is RM1,000 with an annual renewal fee of RM300
