Transport operators in Malaysia who obtain the ISO 39001 Road Traffic Safety Management System certification stand to receive a range of regulatory incentives, Ministry of Transport Malaysia Anthony Loke Siew F**k announced at the Transport & Logistics Industry Seminar 2026 in Johor Bahru on May 11.

Speaking at the full-day event held at Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort, Loke outlined several measures under consideration. Certified operators will gain access to a dedicated fast-track inspection lane at PUSPAKOM, reducing the time and administrative burden of routine vehicle inspections. The initiative will begin with a pilot in Johor before any wider rollout. Certified companies will also be exempt from the JPJ inspection and safety audit.

On the insurance front, the government is in active discussion with the General Insurance Association of Malaysia on enhanced No Claim Discount rates and special insurance packages for certified operators. This will potentially lower one of the industry’s high recurring costs.

A huge thank you to the team from Indeco Engineers Pte Ltd for travelling from Singapore, despite of the busy schedule, to conduct the OBU product briefing and technical engagement session with the transport industry players in Johor.


Special appreciation as well to all participants who made the effort to attend — including operators and fleet representatives who travelled from Kluang and Batu Pahat, and those who rushed through the after-work traffic following the last-minute adjustment of time to the evening.

The session was highly engaging, practical, and industry-driven, with many relevant technical and operational questions raised directly from the ground.

This is what is expected from the industry — practical clarification, direct engagement, listening to our challenges, feedback and suggestion to better prepared before implementation begins.

Whilst we understand the needs of implementation, the clarity and issues of operational functionality of the new systems have to be made clear and sorted out without further delay.
