PIDF 2026 Supports Visit Malaysia Year Agenda, Strengthens Sustainable Dive Tourism
KUALA LUMPUR, 10 February — The Pre-Launch of the Perhentian International Dive Festival (PIDF) 2026 was held today at The Heritage Lounge, Hotel Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur, marking an early milestone toward the staging of the international-standard dive tourism festival scheduled to take place from 11 to 14 June 2026 at Pulau Perhentian.
The ceremony was officiated by the Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, represented by Mr. Mohd Ashrul Ashraf bin Mohd Noor, Deputy Director of the Package Development Division, as a sign of the government’s official support for PIDF 2026, which is listed in the Calendar of Events for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Also delivering remarks were Mr. Aminor Azmi bin Abdul Latip, Chairman of the Malaysia Scuba Diving Association, and Mr. Ricky Koh, representative of Scuba Schools International (SSI International), who emphasized the commitment of both local and international dive industry players in strengthening safe and sustainable marine tourism practices.
PIDF 2026 is organized by Ocean Rangers in collaboration with MIMPI Perhentian Resort as the official host venue. The festival is further supported by key strategic partners including Canon Marketing Malaysia, RHB Bank (Ocean Harmony), and the Besut District Council.
The pre-launch event also featured a special underwater photography showcase by Ipah Uid Lyn, an internationally recognized marine photography figure, and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between SSI International, MSDA, and MIMPI Perhentian Resort to strengthen long-term strategic collaboration.
Carrying the theme “Surreal Perhentian,” the Perhentian International Dive Festival 2026 focuses on promoting Malaysia’s rich marine biodiversity, empowering local community participation, and advancing sustainable tourism development in line with the nation’s tourism aspirations.
