Driving Technological Excellence

The recent Top Management Visit by SHECO Company Limited to PIMMAG marks another significant milestone in strengthening the relationship between both organizations, particularly in enhancing capabilities and technological advancement for oil spill response equipment.

Building upon the positive engagement during the initial meeting in Yokohama last year, the visit to PIMMAG Headquarters and PIMMAG Port Dickson Base further demonstrates the strong commitment by both parties to explore long-term collaboration. The discussions continued in a constructive and forward-looking manner, focusing on potential technological cooperation, sharing of expertise, and opportunities to strengthen oil spill preparedness and response capabilities.

A key highlight of the visit was the journey to PIMMAG Port Dickson Base, where the delegation from SHECO Thomas(Hyeonkyu) Lee GISUNG GWON took time to visit the operational facility and gain a closer look at the oil spill response equipment and readiness maintained by the team. Despite the travel time required to reach the base, the delegation showed great enthusiasm and dedication in making the trip, underscoring their genuine interest in understanding PIMMAG’s operational capabilities on the ground.

During the visit, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Port Dickson Base personnel in a friendly meet-and-greet session. This interaction provided a valuable opportunity for both teams to exchange insights, share experiences, and strengthen professional ties at the operational level.

PIMMAG sincerely appreciates the presence of SHECO’s top management and their valuable contributions during the discussions. Their openness, technical perspectives, and collaborative spirit made the engagement highly meaningful and productive. This visit not only strengthened mutual understanding but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation in advancing marine environmental protection and oil spill response readiness.

PIMMAG recently participated in the Initial Planning Conference (IPC) organized by PETRONAS Oil Spill Management as part of the preparation for an upcoming Oil Spill Response Exercise. The session brought together key stakeholders, including the Department of Environment (DOE), Jabatan Laut Malaysia (JLM), and PERHILITAN, to ensure a shared understanding of the exercise objectives and the coordination framework between industry and government agencies.

Oil Spill Response Exercises are never spontaneous—they are built through a structured and deliberate planning process. This ensures that every activity, from scenario development to operational deployment, truly reflects real-world response expectations.

🔹 Initial Planning Conference (IPC)
This is the foundation stage where participating organizations align on the purpose of the exercise, identify the objectives to be tested, outline potential spill scenarios, and define the response roles of both industry teams and government agencies.

🔹 Mid Planning Conference (MPC)
At this stage, the scenario is refined in more detail. Operational elements, resource requirements, agency commitments, and response roles are confirmed and synchronized.

🔹 Final Planning Conference (FPC)
The last coordination checkpoint before the exercise. Here, the full exercise design, deployment plan, evaluation criteria, injects, and safety considerations are finalized.

Between these major conferences, the organizing team continues to conduct planning meetings to shape the scenario, logistics, injects, and overall coordination approach.

Such structured planning is essential—it ensures that oil spill response exercises are effective, coordinated, and able to meaningfully test real operational readiness.

PIMMAG is proud to contribute to this collaborative effort to strengthen national preparedness and inter-agency coordination. 💪🌊

🚀 Modeling the Future of Response: Learning Never Stops at PIMMAG

They say learning never stops, and today the PIMMAG team proved it. From our newest staff to our Head of PIMMAG, we went "back to the classroom"—both in-person and virtually—for a deep dive into Oil Spill Modeling. This session was more than just a technical update; it was a masterclass in the science and precision required for effective spill response planning.

Key Highlights of the Day:

Internal Expertise: A huge thank you to our very own Muhammad Nailul Nasohah, Technical Expert for Oil Spill Response. His ability to translate complex modeling data into actionable insights is what keeps our preparedness sharp.

Leadership in the Room: What made this session truly meaningful was seeing participation from across the entire organization—including the Head of PIMMAG. When leadership sits among the learners, it reinforces a powerful culture of continuous improvement.

Collective Capability: Whether joining from the office or joining us virtually, the exchange of ideas today ensures we remain ready to respond with confidence when it matters most.

At PIMMAG, we believe that our strength lies in our collective knowledge. By nurturing this spirit of collaboration and technical mastery, we aren't just reacting to the challenges of today—we are modeling the future of environmental protection.
