🌿 World Rainforest Day 2026 |
Rainforests aren’t just “out there” — they are within us. They shape the air we breathe, the water we drink, the climate we depend on, and the incredible diversity of life that sustains our planet.
No matter where we live, we are all connected to rainforests. When we protect them, we are protecting our future, our communities, and ourselves.
This World Rainforest Day, we invite you to reflect on the connection between people and nature. Can you feel ? 💚
For the second slide, we are proud to feature artwork by one of our volunteer (The Chemist ), who shares the inspiration behind her design:
This poster emphasizes the interconnected decline of both cultural and natural heritage. The yellow tekat-inspired begonia motif symbolizes the traditional Malay art of tekat, a craft that is gradually fading as fewer artisans carry on the practice, while the begonia itself represents vulnerable native plant species threatened by habitat loss. Beside it, the endangered pitcher plant highlights the fragility of Malaysia’s unique biodiversity in the face of deforestation. The hands above and below frame these elements as a visual reminder of humanity’s role in this crisis—the upper hands symbolizing the actions that endanger nature and culture, and the lower hands representing those who bear the consequences and the responsibility to protect what remains. Together, these symbols reinforce the message that safeguarding the environment also means preserving the cultural traditions, species, and identities that define our collective future.
