A proud moment for RIMAU! 🐯

We are deeply honoured to receive the Gamuda Inspiration Award, in recognition of RIMAU’s efforts towards the conservation of the critically endangered Malayan tiger and its forest home.

This recognition belongs to everyone who has been part of the journey, our dedicated team and patrollers on the ground, and all those who continue to stand with us for the Malayan tiger.

Conservation is a long journey. Protecting a species from extinction requires persistence, collaboration and sustained commitment, and recognition like this reminds us why we must keep going.

Our sincere appreciation to Yayasan Gamuda for this recognition and for supporting conservation efforts in Malaysia.

Satu momen yang membanggakan buat RIMAU! 🐯

Last Sunday, Harun, our Project Lead, had the honour of giving a talk and screening the film Wira Korbu at Taman Tugu, as part of their “People Library: Malaysia’s Indigenous Voices” event for International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

Wira Korbu tells the story of the Indigenous communities in Korbu and their tireless conservation efforts alongside RIMAU, protecting the forest through camera trap monitoring, patrols and knowledge passed down through generations.

It was a full house, and the panel discussion afterwards with community leaders and advocates brought out some really meaningful stories about identity, community and hope. It was exactly what the day was meant to honour.

Huge thanks to Taman Tugu Malaysia and everyone who came out to watch, listen and ask questions. These are the conversations that need to keep happening. 🌳

Meet Mior Zakaria, proof that conservation needs more than boots on the ground.

Mior is a retired electronics technician who has been quietly repairing our camera traps, board by board, corroded connector by corroded connector, all for a small fee. What looks like routine soldering work to him has saved us thousands of ringgit that would otherwise have gone into replacing gear, money we can now put straight back into ranger patrols and habitat monitoring.

Camera traps are the backbone of how we track tigers and other wildlife across the forest. When one fails in the field, it is not just a broken gadget. It is a gap in the data, a missed detection, a blind spot in protecting the species we are trying to save. Mior’s steady hands and decades of technical know-how keep our eyes in the forest running.

Mior reminds us that conservation needs all kinds of skills. It needs people who can fix things, solve problems, drive, cook, manage numbers, work with technology, and simply show up when help is needed. You do not need to be a biologist or a ranger to make a real difference. If you have a trade, a craft, or even just a few hours to spare, there is very likely a place for it in protecting what is left of our wild spaces.

Thank you, Mior. You are part of the reason our tigers still have eyes watching over them.

---

Kenali Mior Zakaria, bukti bahawa usaha pemuliharaan bukan sekadar kerja lapangan.

Mior mengingatkan kita bahawa pemuliharaan memerlukan pelbagai jenis kemahiran.

"The forest is like our fridge. Everything’s here."

For Shakri, a RIMAU community ranger in the Korbu landscape, these words capture a way of life. For generations, the forest has been more than a source of food. It is home, culture, identity, and the foundation of life for Orang Asli communities.

As the original stewards of these forests, Indigenous communities hold generations of knowledge about the land and its wildlife. Their deep connection to nature makes them among the strongest guardians of Malaysia's forests and the Critically Endangered Malayan tiger.

This , RIMAU is proud to launch Wira Korbu, our latest documentary produced by Nuvista Media. Follow two Orang Asli rangers as they protect the Korbu landscape, overcome daily challenges, and dedicate their lives to safeguarding Malaysia's forests and wildlife.

Their story reminds us that protecting the Malayan tiger begins with supporting the people who have always protected its home.

Wira Korbu is now streaming on YouTube. Watch, share, and celebrate the extraordinary rangers.

Sempena , RIMAU berbesar hati melancarkan Wira Korbu, dokumentari terbaharu terbitan Nuvista Media.

In the heart of the ancient Korbu landscape, crowds gathered to keep the roar of the Malayan tiger alive and celebrate those who dedicate their lives to protecting its home.

RIMAU was thrilled to welcome over 900 people from Orang Asli communities, community rangers, government agencies, conservation partners and volunteers to Pos Yum, Perak last weekend for and to honour the critically endangered Malayan tiger and their homes.

Across 2 memorable days, conservation came alive through the screening of documentaries showcasing rangers’ dedication as well as Perak's extraordinary biodiversity captured by RIMAU's camera traps. Families also enjoyed storytelling, conservation games, educational booths, ranger demonstrations and a spirited tug-of-war that brought the community together. Above all, the celebration honoured the Orang Asli communities and frontline rangers whose knowledge, commitment and stewardship are vital to protecting these forests. Safeguarding the Malayan tiger means protecting an entire ecosystem and empowering the people who call it home.

Yesterday, RIMAU participated in Yayasan Gamuda's The Green Architects: OA Ecological Wisdom | Sustainable Technologies panel discussion at Menara Gamuda.

Moderated by Dr. Colin Nicholas of the Center for Orang Asli Concerns , our Director of Conservation, Roa'a Hagir joined Orang Asli representatives and fellow conservation practitioners in a thought-provoking discussion on how Orang Asli ecological wisdom can help shape sustainable technologies, strengthen environmental stewardship, and foster a more harmonious coexistence with nature.

The session encouraged members of Orang Asli communities to share their insights and featured RIMAU's Indigenous patroller, Shakri, who shared how combining their traditional knowledge with camera traps and GPS technology has strengthened tiger patrols and biodiversity monitoring.

Strengthening Conservation Through Partnership

RIMAU is proud to partner with Aramco Malaysia to support tiger conservation in the Greater Korbu landscape, Perak. This partnership supports key on-ground efforts such as equipping community rangers, engaging local communities, improving grazing areas, enhancing prey populations, and providing operational support.

The collaboration began in November 2025 with the launch of the Asli Patroller (AP) Korbu programme, where nearly 100 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bawong, Sungai Siput took part in the first Asli Patroller (AP) Muda session to inspire interest in nature and wildlife conservation.

The partnership also supports local communities. Through a Back-to-School programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pos Piah in January 2026, 130 primary school students received essential school supplies to start the new academic year.

This collaboration is an important step in protecting the Malayan tiger while supporting the communities who share its landscape. RIMAU is grateful for Aramco’s support and looks forward to a positive and lasting partnership ahead.
