MCPA Participates in High-Level Engagement Session on Food Security Amid Global Uncertainties
The Malaysian CropLife & Public Health Association (MCPA) extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) for the invitation to participate in the Engagement Session with industry stakeholders, held on 18 March 2026 at Wisma Tani, Putrajaya.
The session convened key stakeholders across the agriculture value chain to address the far-reaching implications of the ongoing Middle East conflict on Malaysia’s agriculture sector. Discussions focused on safeguarding supply chain continuity, strengthening sector resilience, and reinforcing national food security in the face of increasing global uncertainties. However, looking across currently Malaysia is in a better position than other countries.
MCPA was strongly represented by its leadership, including Mr. Ng Ching Teik (Chairman), Mr. Kevin Cheong (Deputy Chairman), Mr. Tang Li Wang (Honorary Secretary), Ms. Janice Lim (EXCO), Ms. Siti Aminah (EXCO), Dr. Chin Teen (EXCO), Mr. Koh Wai Pin (EXCO), and Mr. Fuadi (MCPA Secretariat).
During the session, the MCPA Chairman and Deputy Chairman presented industry insights grounded in recent geopolitical developments, evolving international policy responses, and real-time feedback from stakeholders on the ground. They highlighted the importance of a clear and robust regulatory framework or policies that provide flexibility but not at the cost of control to mitigate in case prolonged war situation.
MCPA commends the Government’s proactive leadership in convening this timely dialogue and remains committed to close collaboration with all stakeholders to strengthen Malaysia’s food security ecosystem and ensure the sustainability of the agriculture sector.
