We are pleased to officially announce the 56th Malaysian CropLife & Public Health Association (MCPA) Executive Council for the 2026/2027 term.

MCPA Participates in High-Level Engagement Session on Food Security Amid Global Uncertainties

The Malaysian CropLife & Public Health Association (MCPA) extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) for the invitation to participate in the Engagement Session with industry stakeholders, held on 18 March 2026 at Wisma Tani, Putrajaya.

The session convened key stakeholders across the agriculture value chain to address the far-reaching implications of the ongoing Middle East conflict on Malaysia’s agriculture sector. Discussions focused on safeguarding supply chain continuity, strengthening sector resilience, and reinforcing national food security in the face of increasing global uncertainties. However, looking across currently Malaysia is in a better position than other countries.

MCPA was strongly represented by its leadership, including Mr. Ng Ching Teik (Chairman), Mr. Kevin Cheong (Deputy Chairman), Mr. Tang Li Wang (Honorary Secretary), Ms. Janice Lim (EXCO), Ms. Siti Aminah (EXCO), Dr. Chin Teen (EXCO), Mr. Koh Wai Pin (EXCO), and Mr. Fuadi (MCPA Secretariat).

During the session, the MCPA Chairman and Deputy Chairman presented industry insights grounded in recent geopolitical developments, evolving international policy responses, and real-time feedback from stakeholders on the ground. They highlighted the importance of a clear and robust regulatory framework or policies that provide flexibility but not at the cost of control to mitigate in case prolonged war situation.

MCPA commends the Government’s proactive leadership in convening this timely dialogue and remains committed to close collaboration with all stakeholders to strengthen Malaysia’s food security ecosystem and ensure the sustainability of the agriculture sector.

25 January 2025 - Thank you to MADA for inviting MCPA to be part of the MADA Paddy Convention 2026 as an exhibitor.

At the convention, MCPA shared awareness on illegal pesticides and their impact on public health, especially those sold illegally through e-commerce platforms. We also engaged with farmers on the health and environmental consequences of using illegal products.

In addition, MCPA highlighted our ongoing efforts to support farmers by delivering innovation through the right tools, including stewardship and resistance management programmes.

A special thank you to Dato’ Luqman Ahmad, Deputy Secretary-General of MOA; Dato’ Dr Ismail Salleh, Chairman of MADA; and Tuan Zulkifli Romli, General Manager of MADA, for taking the time to visit the MCPA booth.

25 January 2025 - Setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada Lembaga Pertubuhan Peladang Malaysia atas jemputan kepada MCPA sebagai pempamer di Konvensyen Padi MADA 2026.

Sepanjang konvensyen berlangsung, MCPA telah memberi pendedahan mengenai bahaya racun perosak haram terhadap kesihatan awam, khususnya yang dijual secara tidak sah di platform e-dagang. Kami turut mendekati para petani untuk menjelaskan kesan negatif penggunaan produk haram ini kepada kesihatan dan kelestarian alam sekitar.

Di samping itu, MCPA menekankan komitmen kami dalam membantu petani melalui inovasi dan solusi yang tepat, termasuk program pengurusan kerintangan serta inisiatif stewardship

Pengecualian Cukai Jualan dan Perkhidmatan (SST) ke atas input bahan mentah bagi pengilang berdaftar sebagai input pertanian, yang diumumkan oleh YAB Perdana Menteri, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim pada 5 Januari mencerminkan komitmen berterusan Kerajaan Malaysia dalam memperkukuh keselamatan makanan negara serta menyokong para petani.

Langkah yang tepat pada masanya ini akan membantu mengurangkan tekanan kos di sepanjang rantaian nilai pertanian, meningkatkan produktiviti, serta memastikan bekalan makanan Malaysia kekal terjamin, berdaya tahan dan selamat.

MCPA merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan terima kasih kepada Kerajaan Malaysia kerana mendengar keprihatinan industri serta mengambil kira suara MCPA dalam merangka sokongan dasar yang penting ini.

MCPA akan terus bekerjasama rapat dengan pihak berkuasa berkaitan dan membuat susulan terhadap senarai terperinci item yang akan diberikan pengecualian SST bagi memastikan pelaksanaan yang berkesan dan tepat pada masanya demi manfaat sektor pertanian.

The Sales and Services Tax (SST) exemption on raw material inputs for registered manufacturers as agricultural inputs, announced by the Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 5 January, reflects the Malaysian Government’s continued commitment to strengthening national food security and supporting our farmers.

This timely measure will help ease cost pressures across the agricultural value chain, enhance productivity, and ensure that Malaysia’s food supply remains secure, resilient and safe.

MCPA sincerely thanks the Malaysian Government for listening to the industry’s concerns and for taking into account the voice of MCPA in formulating this important policy support.

MCPA will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities and follow up on the detailed list of items to be granted SST exemption to ensure effective and timely implementation for the benefit of the agriculture sector.

12 December 2025 - The Regulatory Affairs Task Force of MCPA held a constructive dialogue session with the Pesticides & Fertilizer Division (BKRPB), Department of Agriculture Malaysia focusing on strengthening support for farmers.

The session was chaired by Mr. Ts. Nazrul, Deputy Director of BKRPB and MCPA led by Ms. Janice LIM,Chairperson of Regulatory Affairs . Also in attendance were Mr. Ching Teik Ng , Chairman of MCPA, Mr Kevin Cheong , Deputy Chairman of MCPA and MCPA Regulatory Affairs Steering Commitee.

This engagement reflects our continued commitment to collaboration, transparency and advancing sustainable agricultural practices. We appreciate the proactive exchange of insights and look forward to further strengthening partnerships that support the farming community.
