Malaysia Buddha's Light Scout

Malaysia Buddha’s Light Scout It was also the first scout troop in Malaysia which was established and registered by a Buddhist organization.

With Buddha’s Light Scout, Master Hsing Yun hopes to foster virtuous leaders for the country as per the motto of scouts “a good turn daily”. The motto also coincides with the three act of kindness, i.e., speak good words, do good deeds, think good thoughts.

The first Malaysia Buddha’s Light Scout was established by FGS Petaling Jaya on 22 May 2005 (Wesak Day). There are 32 scouts at FGS Petaling Jaya of which 21 are cub scouts.

On 12 May 2006 (Wesak Day), the second Buddha’s Light Scout troop was established by FGS Dong Zen Temple. On 25 June 2006, the third Buddha’s Light Scout troop was established by FGS Sentul with 20 members.

Other than the regular scout activities, Malaysia Buddha’s Light Scout also organizes the annual Scout Camp in May and November each year, with the theme of “Three act of kindness” and “Do a good turn daily”. The curriculum includes outdoor survivor skills, Dharma talks, meditation, mindful meal session, campfire, game, etc.
