🦁✨ First Appreciation Night. One Proud Identity. ✨🦁

For many of us, this was our very first District 308 B2 Appreciation Night.

As we prepared for the evening, one question kept coming up…

“Do we really need to dress so formally?” 😊

Finding the right blazer, formal attire, and shoes wasn’t something we were used to. Some of us even borrowed jackets just for this special occasion.

But the moment we arrived, we understood why.

Every Lions Club carries its own identity, and that evening, we proudly carried ours.

Our elegant black suits, paired with our signature red bow tie, became more than just a uniform—it became a symbol of who we are.

A special appreciation to our Guiding Lion, Dato Dr. Wenddi Anne Chong whose vision and thoughtful design created an identity that reflects the spirit of —professional yet approachable, elegant yet confident, modern yet timeless.

It reminded us that a uniform is not just about appearance.

It represents our values, our unity, and the pride of belonging to something greater than ourselves.

Although we are still a young Club, we are proud to be a team of passionate, capable, and action-oriented women, each bringing our own strengths while sharing one common purpose—

To Serve.

Sometimes, the journey begins with something as simple as putting on a blazer and a red bow tie.

🦁✨ Every Contribution Has A Story ✨🦁

“Thank You For Your Valued Contribution & Service — Fiscal Year 2025–2026”

Behind every award, every badge, every moment of recognition…
there is a story.

A story of early mornings and late nights.
Of hands that served, hearts that cared, and feet that showed up — again and again.

This evening is not just a celebration.
It is a tribute.

A tribute to every Lion who gave their time when it wasn’t easy.
Who stayed committed when no one was watching.
Who chose to serve — not for applause, but because they believed that one act of kindness truly can change a life.

Throughout this Lions year, you planned, you served, you supported, and you sacrificed. Much of it was done quietly, behind the scenes, without fanfare. But know this —

None of it went unnoticed. None of it was in vain.

For many of us, the awards we receive are more than trophies or titles.
They are a reflection of who we are — people who show up, people who care, people who embody the spirit of “We Serve” with every action.

And this year, we gather in the beautiful city of Ipoh — not just to be recognized, but to reconnect. To look into the eyes of a fellow Lion and say, “We did this together.”

Because the greatest reward was never the trophy on the shelf.

It was the child whose life changed because of a project you ran.
The family who received help because you raised your hand.
The friendships forged through service that will last a lifetime.

You made a difference. You are the reason we serve.

🦁 More Than A Club, A Purpose

Before attending this Membership Orientation Workshop 2026, many of us probably thought joining a club was simply about making friends, networking, attending events, or contributing to community projects.

But this orientation opened our eyes to something much bigger.

Through interactive activities, team challenges, games, discussions, and engaging sharing sessions, we gained a deeper understanding of what Lions Clubs International truly stands for and why it has continued to grow and impact lives for more than a century.

For many new members, questions such as:

❓ What is the difference between a Club, Zone, Region and District?

❓ What is Multiple District 308?

❓ What is LCIF?

❓ Why are there Leo Clubs and Lions Clubs?

❓ What does “We Serve” really mean?

were finally answered.

We learned that Lions is not just a service club, but a global organization built upon strong values, ethics, leadership, friendship, and humanitarian service.

The session also gave us a better understanding of Lions’ Vision, Mission, Code of Ethics, Organizational Structure, and the 8 Global Causes that guide our service efforts:

🩵 Childhood Cancer
🩵 Diabetes
🩵 Disaster Relief
🩵 Environment
🩵 Humanitarian Service
🩵 Hunger Relief
🩵 Vision
🩵 Youth

One of the biggest takeaways was realizing that being a Lion is not just about donating money or participating in service projects.

It is about serving with purpose, understanding the needs of the community, and becoming part of something larger than ourselves.

Today, we understand not only where we belong within the Lions structure, but also the responsibility that comes with wearing the Lions badge.

Perhaps that is why so many Lions continue serving for 10, 20, or even 30 years — because once you understand the purpose behind the service, it becomes more than just volunteering.

It becomes a lifelong commitment to making a difference.

And if you have ever wondered how you can contribute to the community while growing yourself at the same time, perhaps Lions is the place for you.
We would love to welcome you to be part of the Lions Club of Tropicana Elite family and experience the true meaning of We Serve together.

A heartfelt thank you to Marilyn Gwee, Dato Dr. Wenddi Anne Chong, Past District Governor KK Loy, District Governor Elect Nic Seow, Zone Chairperson Darren Leong, and OC TY TY for your dedication, guidance, and inspiring facilitation throughout the workshop.

Special appreciation to Alpha IVF & Women's Specialists / Alpha Fertility Centre for sponsoring the beautiful boardroom facility and providing a comfortable learning environment for all participants.

❤️ Today, LCTE together with Lions Club of Selangor Majestic, Lions Club of Ipoh Centennial, and caring students from UKM successfully carried out our Childhood Cancer Project – Healing Heart Interaction Day at Ronald McDonald House UKM ✨

Throughout the session, we spent time accompanying around 19 children and their families through games, singing, birthday celebrations, and simple moments of companionship ❤️

And honestly, today’s project truly touched my heart deeply.

Before this, I never knew that Ronald McDonald House was actually located within the hospital itself — specially created to support families with sick children undergoing long-term treatment.

It allows parents to stay close to their children while reducing the burden of travelling and accommodation expenses.

One touching moment was seeing some of the mothers personally preparing and cooking meals for everyone in the house ❤️
Simple food, but filled with love and strength.

We would also like to sincerely thank our OC, Datin Sri May, for organizing this meaningful project and giving us the opportunity to witness a side of life that many people may never notice.

Special thanks as well to:
✨ Marilyn Gwee — LC Selangor Majestic
✨ Dato’ Dr Wenddi Anne Chong — LC Ipoh Centennial
✨ Datin Natalie Chow Mun Yee — LC Tropicana Elite
✨ TY TY - LCTE Secretary
✨ Valerie - LCIF Coordinator
✨ And of course, including myself — Sally Yap Marketing & Communications Chairperson ❤️

Thank you all for taking the time to be part of this meaningful activity ✨

One thing that amazed me most was how talented, creative, and adorable these children are ❤️
Despite everything they are going through, they still smile so brightly.

And honestly, if I had never joined this Lions journey, I probably would never have known that places like this even existed.

Although I have only joined not long ago, I have truly learned so much here ✨

Sometimes, helping others is not only about donating money.

When you personally step into community service, spend time, listen, accompany, and care for those who truly need support — you will realize that kindness can mean so much more ❤️

If this post touches your heart, we hope you can help us share it so that more people become aware of these families and children who still need love, support, and companionship ✨

Let’s continue spreading love, hope, and kindness together ❤️

🦁 Sometimes, one simple picture can teach us more about leadership and change than a long lecture.

Today, thanks to Dato’ Dr Wenddi Anne Chong
for sharing a very meaningful lesson from ELLI (Emerging Lions Leadership Institute), and it truly made us reflect deeply ❤️

In the picture, both people are pushing against the wall from opposite sides.

At first glance, it may simply look like conflict.

But the deeper meaning behind it is actually very powerful.

The wall represents resistance to change — traditions, existing culture, different mindsets, and sometimes even fear of change itself.

And very often, when both sides keep “pushing” against each other, nothing really moves forward.

Instead, it creates tension, misunderstanding, and division.

One of the most meaningful reminders from this sharing is that:

✨ Change should not be forced
✨ Communication matters
✨ Respecting seniors and existing culture is important
✨ Leadership is not about fighting people, but guiding people
✨ Real progress happens when everyone moves in the same direction

Because true leadership is not about who is stronger or louder.

It is about understanding, patience, trust, and learning how to move forward together with the same purpose ❤️

And perhaps sometimes in life,
whether in clubs, work, teams, friendships, or even family…

the problem is not change itself.

The problem is when we stop listening to one another.

A very meaningful sharing and reminder today ✨

🦁 We Serve.
