We are not here to judge but the first question that popped up was WHY?
Recently, a 22-year-old mother pleaded guilty to causing the death of her newborn baby in a case that shocked the nation. According to court reports, she was charged with causing the baby’s death through an act intended to harm the child.
A baby lost a life that had only just begun.
A mother now faces the consequences of a decision that can never be undone.
As heartbreaking as this case is, it also raises an important question:
How many parents are struggling in silence?
Not every new parent welcomes a child with confidence and support. Some are overwhelmed by fear, shame, exhaustion, financial worries, relationship problems, or the pressure of facing parenthood alone.
Sometimes, what we see as a single tragic act may be preceded by months of emotional distress, isolation, and feeling that there is nowhere to turn.
This is why support matters.
Whether you are a single parent, a young mother, a father, or someone navigating the challenges of caring for a newborn, you should never have to carry the burden alone.
A phone call.
A listening ear.
A trusted friend.
A family member who chooses compassion over judgment.
A support system that says, “We’re here for you.”
These small acts can make a life-changing difference. At times, the strongest thing a parent can do is ask for help.
And the most powerful thing society can do is make sure help is available when that call comes.
Because behind every crisis is a human being who needs support. And behind every child is a future worth protecting.
If you know someone struggling with an unplanned pregnancy, postpartum challenges, or the overwhelming responsibilities of parenthood, reach out. Listen. Support. Connect with them to help.
No parent should feel alone.
No cry for help should go unheard.
