CAN Malaysia

CAN Malaysia Community Action Network (CAN) was formed in 1993 by a group of Catholic graduates to promote and advocate justice and peace in society.

They are now a group of professionals who create spaces for political, social and faith dialogues between all people. The group is also a member of Pax Romana ICMICA ( International Catholic Movement for Interlectual and Cultural Affairs), a Geneva-based Catholic organizatio. ICMICA is an international association of Catholic inter-disciplinary and inter- professional organisations, groups and individuals primarily engaged in dialogue between Christian faith and cultures.

Happening soon at the Church of the Holy Family, Kajang — 25 April 2026, 9.00am.
We’re hosting a Constitutional Safeguards Talk, bringing together diverse voices, including a meaningful sharing by a representative from the Temuan Tribe of the Orang Asli community. Hear firsthand about the issues and struggles faced by Indigenous communities in Peninsular Malaysia.
Let’s learn together and deepen our understanding as one community.

“The continued resort to armed force risks catastrophic escalation, widespread civilian suffering, and long-term instability — affecting the most vulnerable communities first.”

A coalition of Catholic lay groups from India, Philippines, South Korea, and more condemn the US-Israeli strikes on Iran and call for an immediate return to diplomacy.

We Mourn Together with the World

"For whether we live, we live to the Lord, and whether we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's." – Romans 14:8

As Catholics from around the world celebrate the resurrection of the Lord during Easter Sunday, CAN Malaysia joins the world in mourning the sudden passing of our Holy Father, Pope Francis on 21 April 2025.

Pope Francis will be remembered for his call for peace in times of conflict, and his voice has been among the many, urging a ceasefire in Gaza believing that every human life is sacred, and peace is the only path forward. He constantly called the church to go to the periphery and see all of God’s people. This was a believe that he embodied even throughout his last days on earth.

He leaves behind a legacy of revolution, both in and out of the church. He will be remembered for his work in reforming the Vatican, advocating for an inclusive society by leading through example with his down to earth manner without fear nor favour.

In loving memory.
Requiescat in pace, Pope Francis.
