REHDA Malaysia was honoured to participate in 'Seminar Pengurusan Perundangan Tanah' organised by Jabatan Ketua Pengarah Tanah dan Galian (JKPTG) on 7 July 2026. Vice President, Datuk Sr Charlie Chia was invited as one of the speakers and delivered a presentation on 'Urban Renewal Act (URA): The Developer's Perspective on Strata Renewal, Urban Redevelopment and Sustainable City Building'. The seminar served as a valuable platform to discuss the importance of urban renewal and sustainable city development in our efforts to reshape Malaysia's city landscape.

On 27 June 2026, REHDA Malaysia held its Annual Delegates Conference (ADC), the yearly meeting to share industry updates and matters pertaining to the Association. Among the highlights was a tribute to Datuk Ir Ho Hon Sang, who performed his duties as President the final time that day. The meeting also introduced attendees to its new National Council members, and later, Datuk Zaini Yusoff was officially elected as the new President along with Dato' Edward Chong who now helms the Deputy President post.

We thank everyone present for attending the ADC, and for being part of the momentous occasion.

REHDA Malaysia successfully hosted the inaugural session of the REHDA Legal Lens Series on 11 June 2026 at Wisma REHDA, bringing together industry stakeholders to explore key legal developments impacting the housing development sector.

Themed '𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁', the session featured presentations by Mr Ankit R Sanghvi from Halim Hong & Quek and Ms Ho Ai Ting from Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill, who shared valuable perspectives on recent landmark court’s decisions involving Liquidated Ascertained Damages, Extension of Time, Vacant Possession disputes, Directors’ Liability, and other critical legal risks affecting developers.

The Q&A session that followed, moderated by Ms Yann Ong of REHDA Selangor, provided attendees with further clarity on navigating Malaysia’s legal landscape pertaining to housing development.

REHDA, led by the Chairperson of its Planning Policies and Standards Committee Mr Chan Jin-Wy attended an engagement session with PLANMalaysia on 19 May 2026. The meeting was chaired by the Director of Research and Development Department, Datin TPr Dr Chee Ping Ngang to discuss school land requirements, including undeveloped school reserve lands, cost effectiveness, vertical schools and long-term operational practicality.

The engagement also touched on alternative models for school provision, highlighted the importance of adopting an approach that factors actual school demand, existing capacity and demographic trends, amongst others.

REHDA Malaysia looks forward to further engagements with PLANMalaysia for the wellbeing of the rakyat and the nation.

As part of REHDA Malaysia's commitment towards creating a safer work environment in Wisma REHDA, the ESG Committee has organised a Fire Drill Briefing and Demonstration on 21 April 2026 at the headquarters. Helming the session was Mr Skein Citbanchong, Safety Professional at 1Utama Shopping Centre, who gave an in-depth rundown of what and what not to do during fire emergencies. The session was attended by the staff of all Wisma REHDA units, namely REHDA Malaysia, its Selangor, WP(KL) and Youth branches, as well as subsidiaries GreenRE Sdn Bhd, ESD GreenTech Sdn Bhd and REHDA Institute.
