🚨 New Report Release: BEYOND COMPLIANCE – The State of Cyber Resilience in Malaysia 2026 🚨

PIKOM is proud to unveil our latest national baseline study on Malaysia’s cybersecurity posture, now available on our website. This landmark publication, launched in conjunction with the Future of Cybersecurity Summit (FOCS) 2026, provides critical insights into how Malaysian organisations are navigating today’s complex digital threat environment.

🔑 Key Highlights from the Report:

AI-Powered Threats: Deepfake impersonations, quishing (QR phishing), and agentic AI attacks are now mainstream, with phishing and identity-based breaches topping the list.

Financial Impact: Average cost of a data breach in Malaysia reached RM 3.2 million in 2025, with incidents ranging from RM 100,000 to RM 5 million.

Cyber Security Act 2024: Enforcement has shifted cybersecurity from voluntary compliance to a mandatory regulatory and strategic pillar, with penalties up to RM 500,000 or 10 years imprisonment for non-compliance.

Zero-Trust Adoption: 62% of organisations have partially or fully implemented Zero-Trust, while over half now operate more than 40% of their IT infrastructure in the cloud.

Talent & Budget Constraints: 79% of organisations have five or fewer dedicated cybersecurity staff, and over half operate with budgets below RM 250,000.

Emerging Tech Readiness: 39% of organisations are beginning to plan for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), while supply-chain risk governance remains a critical gap.

Resilience as Currency: In 2026, cybersecurity is no longer just IT security—it is a pillar of national economic stability and business trust.

The afternoon sessions delivered engaging keynotes and dynamic panel discussions — from the future of zero trust and AI-driven threats to leadership, policy, and accountability in managing cyber risks. The strong engagement throughout shows how critical these conversations are for the industry.
