Good day fellow Lions, distinguished guests, and dear friends,
Standing here at the closing ceremony of Multiple District 308 Lions Convention, I feel both humbled and deeply grateful for the trust placed in me to serve as District Governor of District 308 B2.
I do not take this responsibility lightly—because I understand that leadership in Lions is never about recognition, but about responsibility to serve.
I was elected on 28th December last year.
But standing here today among fellow Lions from across MD308, it feels even more meaningful.
Because while we serve in different districts, we are united by one identity—Lions.
Over the past months, I’ve had time to reflect on this journey—
on the conversations, the encouragement, and also the challenges that come with leadership.
We are not here because it is easy.
We are here because it matters.
I want to share one moment from our service journey in B2.
We supported a young boy named Wen Di, who is staying in a children’s home.
He is living with a rare genetic condition called MCT8 deficiency, which affects his growth and daily life.
When we visited, I did not feel sadness…
I felt something quieter.
A sense of how different his world is from ours…
and yet how familiar his smile still is.
And around him were other children in the home—
each carrying their own circumstances, each learning to grow in their own way.
In that moment, nothing needed to be explained…
but everything was understood.
Sometimes, the most meaningful thing we can offer is not answers…
not solutions…
but presence.
Because to them…
“today, got people come.”
And somehow, that is enough to remind them they are not forgotten.
And that is the heart of Lions.
To everyone who supported me on this journey—thank you sincerely.
Your trust and encouragement mean a great deal to me.
Along the journey, I received different forms of advice.
Some encouraging… and some very sincere suggestions that I should not proceed.
More than once.
I listened carefully. I reflected deeply.
And in the end, I made my decision not out of emotion—but out of conviction.
Because leadership is not about avoiding difficulty…
it is about being clear on why you step forward in the first place.
I also recognise that leadership is shaped not only by agreement, but also by differing views and honest conversations along the way.
Each of these moments has helped prepare me to serve more thoughtfully.
To my Lions friends, my home club, my campaign team, and everyone who walked this journey with me—thank you.
This moment belongs to all of you.
As we close this Convention, I am reminded that although we come from different districts within MD308, we are connected by a shared mission—to serve.
My focus for the coming year in District 308 B2 is guided by the 4Es:
Empower, Energize, Enrich, and Engage.
We will Empower our members.
We will Energize our clubs.
We will Enrich our communities.
And we will Engage more deeply with one another.
Because Lions is not about positions.
It is about people.
It is about Wen Di…
and many others like him…
who remind us why we serve.
So as I return to District 308 B2, I do so with a simple commitment—
to serve with clarity, with heart, and with purpose.
And I also carry with me something more important than any title…
the responsibility to make a difference in the lives we are privileged to serve.
Because at the end of the day, we will not be remembered for what we held…
but for what we gave.
So let us move forward—not as separate districts…
but as Lions who serve with one heart.
One purpose.
One commitment.
One service.
Thank you.
Let us serve.
