The mission of the trust fund is to create a Malaysia that free of political persecution and death in custody. It was previously known as Malaysians for Beng Hock, a social movement formed in 2010 to support the family of Teoh Beng Hock to fight for truth and justice. The movement also extended its support to other cases of death in custody. Teoh was a young political activist worked with Selangor

state exco, he was summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as a witness on 15 July 2009. He was found dead at the MACC premise the next day morning, the pathologist discovered bruise of manual strangulation on his neck.
