Society of St Vincent de Paul, Conference of SFX, Petaling Jaya

Society of St Vincent de Paul, Conference of SFX, Petaling Jaya SSVP-SFX, an NGO and Catholic in nature, aims at lifting up the lives of the Poor and Needy in every way possible via various empowering projects.

This page is aimed at disseminating information on our activities. Besides running an education/boarding home, Rumah Pengajian Xavier, RPX, which comes with a lot of challenges, we also provide various aids to the Poor and Needy in our community. The urban poor faces a lot of difficulties in this economic situation. We provide what we can with the donations we collect from various avenues. Before

we adopt our Friends/Families in Need (FIN, in short), we do home visits to ascertain their needs. Then we pray and discern during our meeting how best to help them. We have also a Service Centre in Sri Sentosa, Ozanam Service Centre/OSC, where we have a Learning Centre to help the weak school pupils living around the area, provide aid for EPF/SOCSO/Welfare issues. Lately we have embarked in Women's Empowering programme. We will be launching a business venture for single mothers, widow, wives from the underprivileged sector in the area. We are selling flowers, new/used good clothes/bags, costume jewelleries, etc, some new, some old, mostly donated. We also do the sale online as well.

Celebrating a Journey of Faith, Grit & Grace 🙌

God blessed Devaayashini with a strong personality, foresight, and the determination to excel in life.

Through it all, SSVP played a small but supportive role in helping her realize her dreams. And she ran with it!

With hard work and perseverance, she landed her first job, pursued her Master’s, and that path led her all the way to Hungary 🇭🇺. Her versatile spirit opened so many doors there — achievements that make Malaysia proud.

Wishing her all the best as she completes her MBA and steps into the bright, progressive career and life she truly deserves.

We’re proud of you!

Message from our President -
RCIA Presentation of Ministries

Today we were reminded that God uses us as His instrument to reach out to the poor and answer someone’s prayer.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul [SSVP] is one of the simplest and most direct ways to live out our faith in action. Through service, our own faith is deepened and strengthened.

As a team, we pray together, serve together, and grow together in spirit.

In giving to others, we create purpose in our life, receive blessings in return and build meaningful relationships and friendship.

She closed with this call to all of us:
“Be the reason someone has HOPE today.”

First Conference Meeting of New Office Bearers a Success

The newly appointed office bearers held their first conference meeting following the 56th Annual General Meeting in April 2026. The session saw a strong turnout, reflecting the members’ warm welcome for our new President, Sis Jennifer.

Sis Jennifer chaired the meeting in an interactive and vibrant manner, guiding discussions and resolving matters through a democratic voting process. The positive energy and active participation set an encouraging tone for the new term.

After the meeting, members proceeded to visit our project home, Rumah Pengajian Xavier. Our administrator, Sis Mary, received everyone with a sumptuous tea break of coffee, tea, and homemade snacks lovingly prepared by our house mother, Sis Sheila.

Bro James introduced the staff and gave a brief background on the home’s operations. Our advisor, Bro Francis, then shared the history and mission of Rumah Pengajian Xavier.

The highlight of the visit was meeting the ‘heroes’ of the home — the boys. Each of them introduced themselves personally and shared their dreams and ambitions, leaving members deeply moved and inspired.

Together We Walk 2026 👣❤️

What a beautiful morning at Taman Jaya, PJ on 25 April!

“Together We Walk” brought children from SSVP Homes and individuals with special needs together as walking partners — not as helper and helped, but as equals.

Organized by the Archdiocese of KL’s Special Needs Ministry & SSVP, and officiated by Archbishop Julian Leow and YB Senator Isaiah Jacob, the walk was all about inclusion, friendship, and dignity.

One moment said it all: When a “special abled” participant couldn’t bend to tie his shoelaces, a boy from Rumah Pengajian Xavier knelt down and tied them for him. No hesitation. Just quiet compassion.

As Senator Isaiah reminded us — ability comes in many forms, and every person deserves respect.

This is SSVP’s spirit: serving with love, justice, and joy to build a more compassionate community.

Lifeteen Ministry’s Lenten Almsgiving Project with PIHD/SSVP – 28 March 2026
Our Lifeteen youth had a meaningful and enriching experience as they participated in a Lenten almsgiving project in collaboration with PIHD and SSVP. The session began with a briefing by Francis Lai, PIHD Head, who shared on the Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAP), particularly Pillar II: Walking with the Excluded.
This was followed by Sally, President of SSVP, who spoke about the Corporal Works of Mercy and introduced the various outreach efforts, including Rumah Pengajian Xavier and Orang Asli projects. Jessica, who oversees the Food Bank, shared insights on the generous contributions from corporate CSR initiatives, BECs, and parishioners, as well as the operations and distribution efforts.
Our Lifeteen members contributed to the SFX Food Bank and took part in repacking food items for nine beneficiaries serving within the parish. About 18 youth were actively involved in this project, working hand in hand with SSVP members.
It was truly an exciting and fulfilling experience, witnessing our youth live out their faith through service. This Lenten programme is a wonderful example of how young people can be formed in UAP2 through collaboration and outreach.

While the youth was engaged in the almsgiving activities, 3 angels were quietly working behind the scene wiping the shelves and arranging the items. Thank you Aaron, May and Marsha.

We look forward to more opportunities like this—not only with our youth but across all parish ministries—as we continue walking together in compassion and service.

In conjunction with the Lunar New Year, today's Service Sunday became a beautiful reflection of compassion and unity. Through the generosity of many kind hearted well wishers, blessings were poured out to families in need - each receiving angpows, cookies, and mandarin oranges as token of hope and care.
Though most of the recipients were from the Hindu faith, this is the beauty of Malaysia. In our multicultural nation, we open our hearts and traditions to one another, allowing the joy of one community to become a shared blessing for all.

A message of gratitude and Christmas greetings from our boys at Rumah Pengajian Xavier (RPX).
2025 has truly been a blessed year, made possible by your generous support and kind donations. Your care and encouragement have meant so much to us.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thank you for being part of our journey. 🎄✨

Another Advent joy was shared on 18 December 2025, as SSVP brought love and hope to a home in need.

Guided by our mission to live the Gospel by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope, and joy, we shared the story of Jesus’ birth—Emmanuel, God with us—through carols, simple gifts, festive treats, new bedding, red packets, decorations, and a shared meal with Brother Michael.

We pray that this small gesture brought a smile and warmth this Christmas season.

Heartfelt thanks to all who made this possible: David, Bernard, Francis, Joanne, Irene, Belinda, and everyone who contributed in big and small ways.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year 🎄✨🎉

While many families joyfully celebrate Christmas surrounded by loved ones, some elderly individuals spend the festive season longing for warmth, care, and connection.

Madam S is one such person. Despite her advanced age, financial constraints meant that Christmas passed for hes like any other ordinary day.
Wanting to bring some Christmas cheer, a few SSVP members visited Madam S in her home, sharing home-cooked dishes, desserts, and a simple meal together. Small gifts were also prepared just for her. For that brief hour, Madam S was able to set aside her worries and experience the joy, companionship, and love of the season.

As we left, we were mindful that her daily challenges would return. We continue to keep Madam S in our thoughts and prayers, hoping that the love shared will remain in her heart long after Christmas. 💝
