Hosted by Vintry Malaysia in collaboration with the Sommelier Association of Malaysia, the recent Adelsheim Vineyard and Cristom Vineyards Masterclass was an exclusive opportunity to explore the world-class wines of Willamette Valley, Oregon. The session, led by Matilda Hui, a WSET Wine Educator and brand representative, guided sommeliers through an educational and sensory journey of this renowned wine region, often considered on par with the prestigious vineyards of Burgundy, France.

Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, the Willamette Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) has become a beacon of quality winemaking in the United States. This region is celebrated for its cool climate, making it an ideal location for cultivating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Willamette Valley's complex soilsโranging from volcanic to sedimentary and marineโpaired with its temperate climate, enable winemakers to produce wines with nuanced flavors, vibrant acidity, and remarkable balance. This AVA stretches over 150 miles and is home to over 500 wineries, making it one of the premier wine-growing regions in the U.S.
During the masterclass, participants were introduced to two of the regionโs iconic wineries: Adelsheim Vineyard and Cristom Vineyards. Both have been instrumental in putting Oregon on the global wine map, producing wines that exemplify the region's unique terroir.
