Founded in 1987 as the Malaysia Materials Science & Technology Society (MMS) and renamed IMM in 1997, the Institute is governed by a 30 Council Members, with expert volunteers leading specialized committees and regional chapters. IMM’s key objectives include the training and professional development of individuals in Materials Science, Technology, and Engineering, aiming for certification and industry recognition. IMM’s certification courses are highly regarded in industries like oil and gas, shipbuilding, construction, and transport, providing skilled personnel with career advancement opportunities. These programs, developed with industry and academic input, ensure alignment with industry standards. Additionally, IMM organizes various conferences, workshops and seminars.
