விசாக் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படும் விசாக தினமானது, சாக்கியமுனி புத்தரின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாற்றில் மூன்று முக்கிய நிகழ்வுகளான அவருடைய பிறப்பு, ஞானம் பெற்றது மற்றும் உலகை விட்டு மறைந்தது ஆகியவற்றை பௌத்தர்கள் நினைவுகூர்ந்து கொண்டாடும் புனித நாளாக விளங்குகிறது. விசாக தினத்தன்று, பக்தர்கள் கோவில்களுக்குச் செல்லுதல், தர்ம உபதேசம் ஓதுதல், கண்காட்சி மற்றும் பொதுச்சேவை செய்தல் போன்ற நிகழ்வுகளில் கலந்து கொண்டு கொண்டாட்டங்களில் இணைவர்.

சங்க இலக்கிய நூலான பத்துப்பாட்டில் கபிலரால் பாடப்பட்ட குறிஞ்சிப்பாட்டு குறிஞ்சி நில மக்களின் வாழ்வியல் நெறிகளையும் பண்பாட்டினையும் பறைசாற்றும் வண்ணமாக விளங்குகின்றது. குறிஞ்சி நில மக்களின் பண்பாட்டுடன் சேர்த்து, இந்தக் குறிஞ்சிப்பாட்டில் 99 வகையான தமிழ்ப் பூக்கள் பொதிந்து கிடக்கின்றன.
