What a powerful evening at MMKL!

Our Panel Discussion on Communication, Leadership & Corporate Excellence brought together a full room of working professionals, Toastmasters and guests. Every seat was filled during the session, with strong participation and engagement throughout the evening.

A special thank you to our distinguished panelists — Dato’ Seri Dr. Ir. Andy Seo Kian Haw, Ong Chin Seong, and Elysia Teh, DTM — for bringing three different perspectives to the conversation: the Board, the Entrepreneur & Owner, and the Professional C-Executive. Your experience and insights made the discussion practical, relevant and thought-provoking.

What made the evening especially meaningful was the response from our participants. Many shared that they learned a lot, gained new perspectives, and found the session truly worthwhile.

This is what MMKL is building — a platform for working individuals seeking excellence, where communication, leadership and corporate capabilities can be developed through meaningful practice, exposure and interaction.

And a small note about the group photo: We did have all seats filled (40 participants), some participants had already left when we took the photo, so the empty seats shown in the picture do not reflect the actual attendance. The room was fully occupied during the panel discussion.

The real power of this Panel Discussion is not simply about three perspectives on leadership.

It is about a question that deserves far more attention in today’s workplace:

What happens when a new generation of leaders and professionals begins to reshape the way people communicate, work, lead and expect to be led?

Millennials are already leading organisations. Gen Z is entering the workplace with a very different relationship with authority, communication, purpose and expectations.

Between leaders and their people, communication is no longer something that sits on the side of leadership.

It is leadership.

And this is why I believe the phrase W.I.S.E. — Working Individuals Seeking Excellence matters.

Not everyone who enters the workforce is necessarily seeking excellence.

But those who genuinely seek excellence create something different within themselves — a desire to grow, to contribute, to perform at a higher level, and to keep moving forward.

That desire creates momentum.

And in a career, momentum cannot always be created from the outside.

It has to be activated from within.

We talk about leadership everywhere today — frameworks, competencies, programmes and trends.

But very often, the conversation remains at the level of theory.

What makes this Panel Discussion different is that the three perspectives come from people who have actually operated at significant levels of responsibility in the real working world.

Public speaking is not merely about public speaking.

My closing address at the Memorial Service for Tuan Hj Hashim Adnan, DTM.

As we brought the afternoon to a close, I reflected on the years he gave to Money Mastery-KL Toastmasters Club — his friendship, contribution, commitment, and the many memories he left with us.

Although he is no longer with us, his presence remains in the club, in the people he touched, and in the memories we continue to share.

Today, we remember him with respect, with gratitude, and with love.

Rest well, Tuan Hj Hashim. You will always remain in our hearts.
