We want to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers among the least-reached.

01/06/2026

Dale Rhoton, co-founder of Operation Mobilisation, passed away peacefully on 31 May. He was 88 years old.

Together with George Verwer and Walter Borchard, Dale helped lay the foundations of what would become OM with their pioneering first mission trip to Mexico nearly seventy years ago. Through Dale’s leadership in least-reached countries and OM’s Ship Ministry, countless lives have been touched around the world.

🙏 Please join us in praying for Dale’s family at this time.

If Dale’s life and ministry impacted you, we invite you to add a comment to this post.

Buddhism teaches that life is suffering, but through practices like meditation and mindfulness that people can gain karma.

Buddhists strive to let go of anger, greed, and hatred - sources of conflict – until they attain Nirvana either in this life or the next.

Each individual strives to earn enough karma for a better next life. They carry the burden to be good. And there is no certainty if they have ever done enough.

The Bible teaches that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and Jesus shares His peace with those who follow Him.

Thank you for praying that those who seek peace through Buddhism will encounter the true and lasting peace that only Jesus can give.

Vanh* struggled with a serious eye problem. He went for medical treatment and tried different solutions, but there was no improvement.

One day, a woman told him that only Christ could heal him. After hearing this, he decided to go to church and place his faith in Jesus. Not long after Vanh, experienced healing in his eyes. He realised that God called him not only to heal his eyes, but to save his life. This miracle became a turning point in his life, leading Vanh to commit fully to following Christ.

When Nyima left her mountain village for the winter, she didn’t know her painful knee would become the doorway to something far greater. A simple prayer opened a conversation - and weeks later, healing opened her heart to Jesus.

After hearing the gospel, Nyima and a friend chose to follow Christ and were baptised in a mountain stream. Now back in their isolated village, they are the only believers, facing hardship and opposition. Pray that their fragile faith will grow strong, even in the highest and hardest places.

“Thank you for introducing Jesus to me.”

Having been a part of the OM school scholarship programme for many years, Bo from Thailand was given the opportunity to work with an OM team member during her summer break. One day in a casual conversation, Bo said, “Thank you for introducing Jesus to me.”

Join us in giving thanks for young people like Bo who recognise Jesus in the love and acceptance they receive from Jesus followers.

⛩️ In Buddhist Japan, faith is often inherited and deeply tied to tradition. In rural areas, the long standing Danka system still shapes identity and loyalty, creating strong resistance to the gospel.

The OM team in Japan is supporting small churches and serving in remote communities where there is little or no Christian witness, training workers, partnering with local believers, and sharing Jesus beyond generations of Buddhist influence.

During this week, Jesus followers have been praying for Buddhists around the world to hear and understand the love of Jesus. Download OM's free Prayer Reach app to find out more. www.om.org/prayer-reach

High in the Himalayas, a simple gift sparked a life‑changing conversation. When Kersang* met Pema*, a shepherd with a permanent hand injury, a solar-powered audio player opened the door to questions about suffering, faith and hope.

Pema discovered that disability was not a punishment but a place where God’s work could be revealed. Despite knowing the cost within their community, Pema and his wife chose to follow Jesus.

Tashi and her son Kelsang believed an evil spirit ruled their nights. Rituals failed, the lama was powerless - and they had never heard of Jesus. When believers came simply to help build a house, they stayed, worked hard, and shared life alongside them.

By the time the roof was finished, Tashi and her son chose to follow Jesus - burning their idols and declaring their faith. Watching neighbours were left saying, “This must be genuine love.”

🌄 High in the mountains, Palden and his wife live with fear and guilt - believing their son’s paralysis is a curse for breaking their Buddhist vows. When an OM worker walked with them through prayer, care, and practical help, they encountered a different kind of love.

“Caring hands are far more than only praying words,” Palden said. As they continue to wrestle with fear and hope, pray that God’s love will cast out fear and lead them to trust in Jesus.

Pray for OM workers who travel to villages in difficult-to-reach places. Ask God to protect them on their travels and for the people they meet to be open to hearing the gospel.

Vesak is celebrated by visiting a Buddhist temple for prayers and giving offerings, such as lighting incense and giving decorative flowers. Many Buddhists also practice the “good deeds” of releasing caged birds or feeding the needy. These are believed to cultivate merit, and help a Buddhist achieve enlightenment.

Over the next few days, Jesus followers will join together in praying for their Buddhist neighbours. Join the prayer movement by downloading OM’s free Prayer Reach app at www.om.org/prayer-reach
