Our members join for many reasons. One drove 700km just to join our meeting. One woke up past midnight to deliver his speech. We even have international AI experts in the club too. This is us, Short & Sweet Toastmasters Club.

Short & Sweet Regular Meeting #57 - Every Ending is a New Beginning
28 June 2026

We closed a term and opened a new chapter at Short & Sweet Toastmasters Club.

Outgoing president Charles Tan delivered a heartfelt closing address, reminding members that communication and leadership are the two human skills AI cannot replace.

Hui Qin then led a workshop on impromptu speaking, sharing practical techniques to take speakers from cold feet to thinking on their feet in under ten seconds.

Azeem delivered his Presentation Mastery project speech on vocal variety and body language, drawing on a personal journey from reluctant runner to half-marathon finisher. Table Topics Master Mandy ran a creative news-reporter session where guests Kash, Haw Hyi, and Cikgu Lim tackled off-the-cuff prompts with humor and heart.

We tackled one of the most overlooked gaps in communication: the journey from listing what something has to articulating what it does for the person in front of you. A seasoned trainer and our club president Charles Tan, DTM walked participants through the Feature-Benefit-Value framework with vivid examples spanning cars, condos, medical insurance, and even parenting.

The session also explored the 3A objection-handling method, turning pushback into productive dialogue by acknowledging, asking, and then answering with purpose. Say less about what it is. Say more about what it means.

Short & Sweet Toastmasters Club hosted a workshop showing members and guests how to turn AI into a true personal assistant. The session reflected the club's mission of building confidence in speaking, communication, and leadership, now sharpened for the AI era.

The speaker showed how to draft a speech, refine it for humour and impact, then generate scrollable notes to glance at on stage. He also demonstrated saving a whole workflow as a reusable skill, so the same process runs again with one prompt.

The takeaway was simple. Anyone can learn AI today, and the right skills to pair with it are storytelling, creativity, and critical thinking. Train your voice. Train your AI. Do both with us.

The Long and The Short of It

Two clubs, one stage, and an afternoon that left no heart untouched.

DTM Toastmasters Club and Short and Sweet Toastmasters Club came together for a joint meeting celebrating one truth: whether your journey is long or short, every step counts. Members gathered online and on-site to speak, evaluate, and grow.

Table Topics sparked raw, real conversations on leadership, optimism, and collaboration, with Michelle, Kimberly, and Chi Zhen each bringing their own lived experience to the stage.

Then Michelle delivered a project speech that moved the room to tears, sharing her courageous journey of rebuilding her voice and reminding us all that the hardest step is simply to begin.

Soo Ling then delivered a dual impromptu speech, weaving humor and heart through decades of IT encounters and the quiet joy of doing absolutely nothing.

A full panel of evaluators — Chi Zhen, Jessica, and DTM Lay Theng — dissected the craft in a lively moderated session guided by Kah Mun.
