A look back at the National Climate Governance Summit (NCGS) 2026, where MPSEA Secretary, Lionel Yap, led the workshop “Storage Enables the Energy Transition: Is Malaysia’s BESS Capability Ready?”

As Malaysia continues to accelerate renewable energy adoption, the conversation around energy storage is becoming increasingly important. Lionel’s session looked at where Malaysia currently stands on BESS, from regulation and technology to workforce and investment, and what the industry needs to consider as deployment moves forward.

It was also a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives with participants on the opportunities and challenges ahead for Malaysia’s energy transition.

Another R.A.C.E to Zero stop, another day of bringing the industry together 🤗

The Penang Edition gave us the opportunity to connect with stakeholders from across the clean energy and industrial ecosystem and exchange perspectives on the opportunities and challenges shaping Malaysia’s energy transition.

We were pleased to welcome YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, and YB Zairil Khir Johari, Penang State EXCO for Infrastructure, Transport & Digital, alongside our speakers, industry partners and participants.

The day also saw us take another step forward through our collaborations with Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) and 3M, strengthening our work in professional development and industry safety.

Thank you to everyone who spent the day with us, shared your perspectives and supported the Penang Edition.

Tomorrow, the R.A.C.E to Zero Regional Series 2026 – Penang Edition brings the conversation on energy transition to Eastin Hotel Penang.
