People we share time with in Kapas Island are the people who help shape the heart of our conservation journey. 🌿🐢

A special moment with our junior volunteers, Kani & Michelle, meeting professors from UMT Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, together with their mentor from Seakeepers Asia, and our past Kapas Turtles intern, who has become one of our important members since his internship.

This is what community looks like: learning, sharing, growing, and inspiring the next generation of ocean guardians.

At Kapas Turtles, volunteering is more than giving time.

It is learning to care deeply for sea turtles, their nesting beaches, and the fragile environment they depend on. But it is also about growing as people.

Every task, from learning in the classroom to cleaning shared spaces, teaches discipline. Every responsibility builds independence. Every small action reminds our volunteers that conservation begins with respect, commitment, and care.

Because protecting sea turtles is not only about what we do on the beach. It is about the values we carry with us every day.

ʟᴇᴀʀɴɪɴɢ ғɪʀsᴛ ʜᴀɴᴅ

Some lessons in conservation are not learned in classrooms. They are learned with sandy hands, tired eyes, and hearts wide open to nature’s rhythm.

Our Junior SeaKeepers volunteers, Kani and Michelle, spent the day learning how to dig a sea turtle nest chamber, preparing themselves for what comes after sunset: night patrol, red lights, quiet beaches, and the hope of witnessing a sea turtle.

Sea turtle conservation does not follow our sleeping patterns. It follows the moon, the tide, the mother turtle, and the fragile timing of nature.

This is where young hearts learn what conservation truly means: patience, respect, responsibility, and showing up even when the rest of the world is asleep.

Proud of our Junior SeaKeepers for learning, caring, and stepping into the real work of protecting sea turtles.

Our rangers walk the beach in silence, protecting mothers as they nest, and safeguarding every egg from danger.

Sea turtle conservation is not just about cute hatchlings.
It is long nights, patience, sweat, mosquito bites, storms, data collection, nest monitoring, and endless dedication to giving these creatures a chance to survive.
