Hospis Melaka

Hospis Melaka Created in 1994, Hospice Melaka serves the Malaccan community through their palliative care services. It currently provides Hospice –at Home Care Program.

Hospice Melaka was registered in November in 1994 by 27 men and women who saw the urgent need to set up a Palliative Care Group for the ever-increasing terminally ill cancer patients in Melaka. Hospice Melaka is a non–profit, tax exempt, voluntary service association with doctors, nurses and committed lay volunteers. The program focuses on providing care, comfort for terminally ill cancer patients

with emotional, social and moral support and counseling. The association also provides free nursing and medical care to help terminally ill patients and their care givers. Loan of equipment such as wheelchairs, commodes, walking frames, oxygen concentrator unit, hospital beds, ripple mattresses are also provided. Where required Hospice Melaka has contacted other concerned voluntary associations for financial support for individuals in need and provided information about nursing homes, legal help and under takers and bereavement support. Hospice Melaka seeks to improve the standard and quality of hospice care by providing training for doctors, nurses, paramedics and lay volunteers. One such step is through education of the general public and promotion of good relations among those persons providing such care. One such effort is during the Palliative Care in Melaka Seminar and Workshop at Melaka Manipal Medical College on the 1st & 2nd March 2013. Hospice Melaka works towards providing social, emotional and spiritual support to all persons engaged in providing hospice care.
