A wonderful opportunity has arisen for our boys and girls at NADY Networking Action for Disabled Youths from the outcome of a meeting between NADY members Kathleen Nicholls, Tunku Munirah and Suriani and the General Manager of The St Regis Langkawi, Mr. Derek Gomez together with his resort management staff recently.
Among collaborations discussed at the meeting were training and employment opportunities for NADY youths.
The hotel management will also be making a trip to NADY Shoppe this Friday, to meet up with our youths to evaluate their interests and abilities which would be then matched to the jobs/roles at the resort. This is one of the greatest opportunities that can happen to our youths !! For this, we gratefully thank the resort !
According to Kathleen Nicholls, full training would be given, including any health and safety requirements.
"Shadowing a member of staff would also be given. They mentioned that they could always use a barista and beefburger cooks!," she added.
NADY's main concern may revolve around transportation, but this area would be resolved between NADY and the youths' parents.
So after the preliminary meeting between The St Regis Langkawi, NADY youths as well as parents this Friday, an initial plan may be able to be mapped out.
Other collaborations include hand-painted cards which will be used as welcome notes to guests!
