In the true spirit of Merdeka, unity and love for tanah air shone brightly in Kampung Kilim, Langkawi. The close-knit community came together with time, effort, and heart, transforming their lorongs into vibrant showcases of Malaysian pride. With a blend of creativity and sustainability, they turned everyday items into patriotic masterpieces: old tyres painted in the bold colours of Jalur Gemilang, plastic bottles reborn as towering KLCC replicas, and countless other ingenious works that captured the soul of Malaysia.
This was more than just a decorating effort. It was a celebration of identity, a reminder that Merdeka lives not only in our history but in the spirit of our people today. The friendly competition among four lorongs brought out the best of everyone, with each lane proudly expressing what independence means to them. Independent judges from neighbouring kampungs joined in to witness and score the beauty of this kampung spirit.
As the kampung voices rang out with laughter and pride, one thing was clear…Merdeka is alive in every corner, every colour, and every creation of Kampung Kilim. We look forward to seeing even more lorongs join next year, carrying forward this legacy of love, unity, and creativity.

Semangat Merdeka memang terasa sungguh di Kampung Kilim, Langkawi!
Orang kampung pakat mai tolong sama-sama, habih curah masa, tenaga dengan hati yang ikhlas nak bagi lorong depa nampak meriah, penuh warna dan penuh jiwa sayang kat tanah air.
Daripada tayar lama sampai la ke bekaih teluq yang dicat merah, biru, kuning, putih… botol plastik pulak depa gubah jadi KLCC, siap ada hasil seni hebat-hebat yang mai ikut akai kreatif orang kampung sendiri. Semua ni lahir kerana kasih dan bangga kat Malaysia tercinta.
Bukan setakat hias lorong saja noh… ni kira sambutan identiti kita, nak habaq kata semangat Merdeka tu bukannya tinggal dalam buku sejarah ja, tapi hidup dalam hati rakyat sampai la hari ni.
Gelak tawa, sorakan, dengan warna-warni Jalur Gemilang buat suasana bertambah hangat.
Kami tak sabaq nak tengok tahun depan lagi banyak lorong join, kasi lagi gamat dan lagi tinggi semangat Merdeka ni.
