Persatuan DAYBREAK

DAYBREAK is an acronym for Disabled Adults and Youths Being Rewarded, Encouraged and Accepted in Kinta. Our story began in 1992.

We set out to help the disabled find a meaningful place in society by providing a training ground in specialized skills. DAYBREAK is an acronym for Disabled Adults and Youths Being Rewarded, Encouraged and Awarded in Kinta. Initiated by the Social Concerns Committee of the Canning Garden Methodist Church (CGMC), we started out in a rented shop house in Ipoh's famous "Old Town" as Daybreak Centre.

A first of its kind, we set out to help the disabled find a meaningful place in society by providing a training ground in specialized skills and a retail center for their handicrafts. Within two years, our trainees grew in numbers. There were also many who were successfully placed in permanent jobs that we decided to move our Training department to a larger premise in Gopeng so we could reach out to those living around that area and help them benefit from our program too. However, our Administration and Handicrafts departments remained in Ipoh. We then had a dream of having all our departments reunite under one roof and this took form in 1998 when an acre of land in Pengkalan only 30 minutes from central Ipoh was donated to us. We embarked on a journey of building this dream and the end of 2000 marked a new beginning to our journey when all our departments moved into our new home. Daybreak was officially opened by the Sultan of Perak, His Royal Highness Sultan Azlan Shah on 24th April 2003. Our vision:
Empowering people with disabilities regardless of race or creed,
to help them become self-reliant, independent and integrated members of society.

🔥 Fire Safety Programme with the Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia

On 08/07/2026, the trainees and staff of Persatuan Daybreak participated in a Fire Safety Talk, Fire Drill and Emergency Evacuation Exercise. The programme provided our DAYBREAK trainees and staff with important knowledge on fire prevention, emergency evacuation procedures and how to respond during a fire.

A big thank you to Mr. Tarmizi and the team from Balai Bomba Pasir Puteh, Lahat, Ipoh, for the valuable knowledge, guidance and training. Thank you to the entire team for making this programme a meaningful and beneficial experience for everyone at Persatuan Daybreak. 🚒🔥

🛍️ We will be bringing a variety of unique handmade handicrafts, including our special Batik Collection. Each batik fabric is carefully handcrafted through our very own Batik Production Project and transformed into beautiful everyday creations. 🎨👜✨
