Every bottle that washes ashore, every piece of plastic tangled in the roots, it came from us. And so the responsibility? Also ours.
This was our first time in Kampung Buntal, and honestly? We weren't sure what to expect. What we got was a lot of people showing up, all rolling up their sleeves for the same stretch of coastline. That kind of energy is rare, and it reminded us why showing up matters.
Places like Benteng Pantai Buntal aren't just pretty backdrops. They're livelihoods. They are the spaces where fishermen go out each morning and come back with something, spaces where wildlife live their lives and thrive. A cleaner coast means healthier waters, healthier waters mean more fish, and more fish means a community that can sustain itself.
Through this cleanup we are happy to share that the hard work of 36 cleanup heroes successfully removed 2,923 items from our marine ecosystem including 658 ci******es butts and 645 plastic bottles!
