The National Strategic Office Council for Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (NSO MAPO) and IOM Malaysia convened frontline responders and service providers in Kuching on 2-3 February for a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Training to enhance counter-trafficking responses in Sarawak.

The session gathered government and civil society actors, including Victim Assistance Specialists, to strengthen trauma-informed assistance for trafficking survivors. Through scenario-based discussions and peer learning, participants explored the mental health impacts of trafficking, referral mechanisms, and culturally appropriate support tailored to Sarawak’s communities.

The training also highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration and gender-sensitive approaches.

This training is part of the SAFE SPACES project, with support from the United States Department of State Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

At Lawyer Kamek, we believe knowledge must come before action.
Before we go out to build the community, we must first build ourselves.

Look at this picture.
How many people do you see?
Most will say 10.
But is that really correct?

This is why literacy, critical thinking and legal awareness matter.
What looks obvious is not always the truth — and in law, policy, and human rights, that difference can change lives.
