PurpleLily was honoured to attend the Sambutan Hari Ibu organised by Lembaga Penduduk dan Pembangunan Keluarga Negara (LPPKN) today at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, officiated by Datoโ€™ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri from the Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat (KPWKM).

The celebration recognised the invaluable role, sacrifices and unconditional love of mothers in shaping resilient families and compassionate communities. PurpleLily is grateful to be part of this meaningful programme that celebrates and empowers women and mothers in our society.

Puan Suraya Bujang of PurpleLily Social Association Kuching attended the CMUH-UNIMAS Health Symposium 2026 themed โ€œThe Metabolic Tsunami: Modern Strategies for Mechanism Driven Obesity Managementโ€ held at The Hilton Hotel, Kuching on Saturday, 23 May 2026.

The symposium highlighted obesity as one of the most pressing public health challenges in Malaysia, with increasing impact on healthcare costs, productivity, and overall quality of life. Discussions emphasized that obesity is not merely an individual issue, but a complex condition requiring comprehensive and interdisciplinary collaboration involving healthcare providers, policymakers, educators, communities, and the food industry.

Among the key takeaways were the urgent need for:
โ€ข Early intervention and preventive strategies
โ€ข Greater public awareness and community education
โ€ข Healthier food environments and responsible industry practices

PurpleLily Social Association Kuching is honoured to have our Advisor, Puan Suraya Bujang, invited as one of the panelists for the forum session titled โ€œFrom Resume to Interview: Your Career Starter Guideโ€ organised by UNIMAS students in conjunction with the FYP Symposium 2026 on May 18.

The session gathered more than 300 students and featured an engaging discussion with many insightful questions from final year students preparing to enter the workforce. It was a meaningful opportunity to share practical insights on career preparation, confidence building, and navigating the transition from university to employment.

We are also honoured to share the stage with Puan Zaliha Mohamad Ali, who brings extensive experience from the corporate sector and is currently serving with Sarawak Multimedia Authority and Sarawak Energy Berhad.

Thank you to UNIMAS for the invitation and warm hospitality. PurpleLily wishes all students the very best in their future careers and endeavours.

PurpleLily Social Association successfully held its Bi-Annual General Meeting on 17 May 2026, chaired by Puan Suwiti Abdul Ranee.

The meeting highlighted PurpleLilyโ€™s activities, milestones, and achievements over the past two years, reflecting the organisationโ€™s continued commitment towards empowering women and girls in Sarawak.

While greater challenges are anticipated in the years ahead, PurpleLily remains steadfast and committed to its vision and mission of creating positive change and empowering women through leadership, education, advocacy, and community engagement.

The financial report was presented by Treasurer, Puan Suraya Bujang, followed by the election of the new office bearers for the 2026/2027 term.
