"The Sexual Offences against Children (Amendment) Bill will seek to expand the extra-territorial reach of Malaysia’s laws against child sexual offences committed outside the country.

According to the Bill, the proposed amendments will broaden the scope of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017 (Act 792) to allow Malaysian authorities to prosecute a wider category of offenders and offences committed abroad that have a connection to Malaysia.

Under the existing law, the Act applies to offences committed outside Malaysia by Malaysian citizens against any child.

The amendment proposes extending the law to cover offences committed abroad against any child by Malaysian permanent residents and individuals whose habitual residence is in Malaysia.

It would also allow Malaysian authorities to take action against any person who commits an offence outside Malaysia against a child who is a Malaysian citizen, a permanent resident or a person whose habitual residence is in Malaysia."

14 June 2026, Kota Samarahan: The volunteers of WINNE's Crisis Phoneline gathered at SWWS headquarters for a check-in session and a sharing session on self-care.

The gathering provided an opportunity for volunteers to reconnect, share experience and strengthen collaboration. These discussions contribute to our ongoing efforts to provide more effective and holistic support to individuals seeking assistance through the Crisis Phoneline.

We were also pleased to have Ms. Amethystia Edlyz, our practical counsellor, share a presentation on self-care. We thank her for her contributions and commitment throughout her practical placement with SWWS.

We would also like to thank all the volunteers who attended the session and for their continued dedication to serving on WINNE's Crisis Phoneline. Your compassion, commitment and willingness to support individuals in distress provide comfort, hope and a listening ear to those who need it most.
