Huge congratulations to the first cohort to successfully complete the Level 1 Sarawak Skateboarding Certification Program 2026 recently held at the Sarawak Sports Village, Kuching.

​By passing both the Theory and Practical assessments of the Coaching and Judging Fundamental Course, these 11 individuals are now the official architects of skateboarding's foundation for a sustainable ecosystem.

Working together with the Sarawak Sports Corporation, SARAWAK will be the FIRST State to establish such a standard that stretches across all of Sarawak—from Kuching to Miri, Sibu to Bintulu. And we have high hopes for our Neighbours - Brunei and Sabah who participated in this course, to join us in elevating the Borneo skateboarding standards to new heights.

The formalization of skateboarding in Sarawak through a structured certification and accreditation program is a significant "level up" for the scene. It transitions the sport from a misunderstood hobby into a recognized athletic discipline with professional standards.

Here is how this program will likely impact the landscape:

​1. New Professional Opportunities
​Accreditation turns a passion into a legitimate career path.
​
​2. Empowerment of the Community
A certified body of skaters has more "weight" when negotiating with government agencies or sports councils.

​3. Addressing the Lack of Facilities
​One of the biggest hurdles to building skateparks is "liability." A long term benefit when there are certified instructors and a recognized safety standard, it becomes much easier for the government or private developers to approve and fund new skateparks.

​4. Elevating Administration and Advocacy
Historically, skateboarding has often suffered from fragmented leadership. By training facilitators in "Tactical & Evaluation" workshops, the program cures "sub-par administration."
