Growing Stronger from Within: MRC Kapit Begins Its BOCA 2.0 Journey
Congratulations to MRC Kapit Branch for taking on the BOCA 2.0 challenge and joining the growing BOCA community!
Kapit has come a long way from being a small riverine town in the interior of Sarawak. With improved road connectivity, the town is evolving rapidly, bringing new opportunities for its people and communities. Yet, beyond Kapit town lies a vast geographical area where distance, accessibility and the diversity of communities continue to present unique challenges for humanitarian outreach.
It is within this context that MRC Kapit Branch embarked on its BOCA 2.0 journey.
While the Branch remains active in delivering services to its communities, the BOCA workshop provided an important opportunity to step back from day-to-day activities, look at the bigger picture and reflect collectively on where the Branch is today and where it wants to go.
Through an open, participatory and honest reflection on the BOCA Matrix, the Branch Assessment Team identified its strengths, challenges and organisational and operational gaps. More importantly, the team moved beyond identifying challenges to prioritising what matters most and charting a practical Branch Development Pathway.
This is what BOCA is about—not an audit, inspection, ranking or compliance, but self-reflection, collective learning, ownership and continuous improvement.
For MRC Kapit, the journey ahead is about building a stronger and more capable Branch—one that is better equipped to reach communities, respond to local needs and deliver greater impact.
Strong branches are not built overnight. They grow through reflection, learning, action and commitment—from within.
Well done, MRC Kapit Branch, for taking the first step. We wish you every success on this journey of growth and transformation. MRC Sarawak Chapter stands with you and will continue to support you along the way.
