FIRST SARAWAKIAN TO LEAD ICCA APAC CHAPTER 🔥

We are incredibly proud to announce that Jason Tan Chin Foo, CEO of BESarawak, has become the first Sarawakian to be appointed Chair of the ICCA Asia Pacific (APAC) Chapter for 2026–2028.

This is a big moment for Sarawak. Jason’s appointment places Sarawakian leadership at the heart of one of the world’s most influential global business events communities.

The 38th International Conference on Microelectronics (ICM) 2026 is coming to Sarawak, bringing the global conference back to Malaysia after more than 30 years.

With AI transforming electronics, ICM 2026 will spotlight how emerging technologies can tackle real-world challenges, including smarter haze monitoring.

But the bigger opportunity is talent. Sarawak produced only around 345 electronics graduates in the past three years, highlighting the need to attract more students into the field and, just as importantly, create the jobs that will keep them here.

With Sarawak’s Free Tertiary Education Scheme covering 64 courses including electrical and electronic engineering, and growing international interest from IEEE members worldwide, ICM 2026 could help spark the talent, connections and opportunities needed to power Sarawak’s high-tech future.

Sibu became one big international dance floor at the Sibu Riverside Dance Forum 2026 - proudly supported by BESarawak! 💃🔥

Around 250 dancers, choreographers, musicians and performers from Malaysia, Brazil, India, the Philippines and Mauritius gathered for two vibrant days of performances, workshops, creative conversations, art installations and a handicraft market.

Beyond the stage, dance became a universal language that brought cultures together, sparked new collaborations and created lasting connections. The forum also introduced international participants to Sarawak’s culture, people and beauty while creating opportunities for tourism and the local creative community.

The 10th National Early Childhood Intervention Conference concluded today highlighting that inclusion is something we must put into practice every day.

The NECIC 2026, organised by Kuching Methodist Care Centre and the National Early Childhood Intervention Council. had over 300 educators, therapists, healthcare professionals, researchers and families come together in Kuching to turn that belief into meaningful action under the theme “Making Inclusion Work: From Belief to Practice”.

Delegates exchanged practical tools and approaches to help children of all abilities feel seen, supported and included in classrooms, intervention programmes, homes and communities.

The impact goes beyond the conference. Every idea shared and partnership strengthened can lead to earlier support, more confident families and better opportunities for every child to belong, participate and thrive.

It’s a wrap for Goyang Destination Week 2026, with Sarawak making its mark on the global stage in South Korea! 🇰🇷

Our CEO, Jason Tan Chin Foo, represented Sarawak at the International Destination Competitiveness Forum by taking the stage to present his session “Business Events Sarawak Alliance (BESA): Strengthening Policy Delivery and Long-term Development Outcomes”, spotlighting how Sarawak is bringing government, industry and key sectors together to turn business events into a platform for stronger policy delivery and meaningful, long-term impact.

He also joined international leaders in a panel discussion on strategic partnerships in business events, exploring how stronger cross-sector collaboration can sharpen destination competitiveness while creating greater economic and social value.

From Sarawak to Goyang, the message is clear: the future of destinations is collaborative. 🤝🌏

From praise and prayer to purpose and connection, young people are going “Into the Deep” in Miri. 🌊 Around 250 youths, Church leaders and delegates from Sarawak, Singapore and Brunei are gathering for the Legion of Mary Youth Convention 2026.

Across four days of talks, workshops, worship and fellowship, the convention goes beyond spiritual growth. It is building confidence, leadership, stronger relationships and cross-border connections, while bringing younger and older generations together to learn from one another.

A True Kenyalang - Sebastian Ting 陈超耀 highlighted the Sarawak Government’s continued support through UNIFOR, including RM120 million for the construction and upgrading of houses of worship and support for mission schools, alongside initiatives such as free tertiary education that invest in the future of Sarawak’s young people.

The impact goes beyond these four days. Delegates leave with new friendships, stronger intergenerational understanding, greater confidence and a renewed sense of purpose to bring back to their communities.

Because going deeper isn’t just about what you discover. It’s about what you bring back to the surface. 💙
