An animal shelter does not run on compassion alone.

Animal welfare is not only about rescuing animals after they are abandoned, injured, or neglected. It is also about preventing these situations from happening in the first place.

When more people understand responsible pet ownership, sterilisation, neutering, vaccination, and proper care, fewer animals end up suffering on the streets or entering shelters.

SSPCA’s work goes beyond sheltering. It is also about encouraging long term change through awareness, community action, sterilisation efforts, and advocating for better animal welfare policies.

Start by sharing the right information with the people around you, your family, your neighbours, your community, and the next generation of pet owners.

Compassion becomes stronger when knowledge is shared.

Rescue is important, but prevention matters too. 🐾

Responsible pet ownership starts with simple actions:

• Spay and neuter to prevent unwanted litters
• Vaccinate to protect pets from diseases
• Do not abandon animals when caring for them becomes difficult
• Re-home responsibly if you are unable to keep a pet

Leaving an animal behind may seem like the only option to some, but it can put them at risk of hunger, illness, accidents, and fear.

Small responsible choices can prevent bigger suffering.

Share this message with the people around you. For those who may not understand English, a simple explanation in a language they understand can help more animals receive the care they deserve.

SSPCA receives many calls about animals in need, and each case requires time, care, and resources.

Where safe and possible, the community can help by:

1. Bringing injured animals to the nearest vet

2. Sharing verified cases with clear information

3. Supporting care through donations

4. Keeping pets safely at home or within your compound

5. Spaying and neutering to prevent uncontrolled breeding

6. Looking out for vaccination and neutering programmes by DVS

7. Asking your nearest vet where to bring your pets for proper care

Animal welfare does not start only at rescue.

It starts with responsible pet ownership, community awareness, and small actions that help prevent more animals from suffering.

Happy Sarawak Day. ❤️💛🖤

Sarawak has always shown us that our differences don’t divide us, they make us stronger.

As we celebrate the unity that brings our communities together, let’s remember that compassion has no boundaries. It extends not only to one another, but to the animals that share this home with us.

Because compassion is a collective effort.

Happy Sarawak Day. ❤️

A pet is not just for the good days.

They need us when they are young, old, sick, messy, active, scared, and inconvenient.
Responsible pet ownership means showing up for them through every stage of their life.

When we take ownership seriously, fewer animals are abandoned, neglected, or left to suffer.

Children learn compassion from the adults around them.

Teaching them to be gentle with animals helps build a more caring future generation.

No teasing.
No hitting.
No chasing.
No pulling tails or ears.

Kindness must be taught early, and it starts with simple everyday moments.
Teach kindness. Practise compassion.

🐶 5 Puppies Looking for Their Forever Homes! 🏡❤️

Yesterday, 5 small puppies were dumped outside the SSPCA shelter, 3 females and 2 males. We had no choice but to take them into our care. They are all siblings and just over 1 month old.

If you're interested, please message us through WhatsApp 0102259822 to book a visit to meet them at the shelter.

⚠️ Please note: The puppies are not yet old enough for adoption under our adoption protocol. However, they can be pre-booked, and once they have completed their vaccinations and neutering (around 4 - 5 months old), we will contact you to bring them home, adoption fee is RM100 per dog for all ages and sizes 😁.

Please help us find these little ones the loving forever homes they deserve! ❤️🐾
