Schools in Kuching, Padawan, Serian and Samarahan will be closed from 20 to 21 August 2026, with PdPR to be implemented, following an announcement by the Sarawak State Education Department due to the haze affecting air quality.

Everyone is reminded to reduce outdoor activities, wear a suitable mask, stay hydrated, and seek medical attention if unwell. Please pay special attention to children and the elderly.

砂拉越州教育局宣布，由于烟霾影响空气质量，古晋、巴达旺、西连及三马拉汉的学校将于2026年8月20日至21日关闭，并实行居家教学与学习（PdPR）。

请大家减少户外活动、外出佩戴合适口罩、多喝水，并在身体不适时尽快求医。请特别关注儿童和年长者的健康。

Starting from 2026, the Sarawak Government will implement the Free Tertiary Education Scheme Sarawak, FTES.

Eligible Anak Sarawak pursuing approved bachelor’s degree programmes at designated Sarawak higher learning institutions may receive 100% tuition fee coverage. Eligible students from low-income families may also apply for accommodation and living allowance of up to RM15,000 per year.

Education is an investment in the future of our children, families and Sarawak. Let us share this good news with students and families who may benefit from this opportunity.

实加码城市发展社区委员会今早在 KY Cafe 举办流动服务活动，吸引不少居民前来咨询及办理各项事务。这次服务内容包括协助符合资格的砂拉越州退休公务员申请砂拉越政府推出的一次性特别财政援助（BKK）、协助居民申请各项政府福利与援助计划，以及提供免费的法律咨询服务。

社区委员会成员耐心为居民讲解申请资格、所需文件及办理程序，并现场协助填写及提交申请，致力为社区居民提供更便捷、更贴近民需的一站式服务，让更多有需要的人士能够及时获得政府援助与专业咨询。

Please be extra cautious when handling cash transactions, as there have been reports of fake (counterfeit) banknotes circulating.

When accepting cash, especially larger denominations, take a moment to check the security features of the notes. If you suspect that you have received a counterfeit note, do not use or pass it on. Instead, report the matter to the nearest police station or bank for assistance.

Let’s stay alert and look out for one another to help prevent the spread of counterfeit money.

Today, Kapitan Kho Phek Choo and Kapitan Hu Chi Poh, together with members of JKKK Sekama and JKKK Ang Cheng Ho, as well as Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Councillor Nicholas Wung , visited HNST to celebrate Parents’ Day with the elderly residents.

It was a heartwarming and joyful occasion as we spent quality time with our senior citizens, offering companionship, care, and our sincere appreciation for their lifelong contributions and sacrifices. 🥰
