COOKING FOR GOOD by Rotary Club Urban Kuching

At the end of the cooking class, all participants enjoyed eating the food cooked by them including the salad with the wonderful and refreshing salad dressing.

Thanks to Jackie Yeo for imparting the cooking knowledge to the residents of the orphanage.

‘Cooking for Good’ at PERYATIM

Cooking class for the youth at PERYATIM orphanage in Kuching.

A total of 24 participants attended this signature and sustainable project of Rotary Club Urban Kuching whose members represent 8 different races across 5 nationalities.

The cooked food was served for lunch with the remaining 50 house mates.

The last club meeting for 2025 was held on 18 December 2025 at 7pm.

The club received a visiting Rotarian from Rotary Club Kuala Lumpur City Center by the name of Hang Wai Koon who came to Kuching on a business trip.

He shared 10 cans of specially made and tasty wafer rolls for PolioPlus fund raising. The club will place several cartons of the product.

Cooking for Good project lead, Jackie Yeo, briefed members on the progress of preparations for the said activity scheduled on 20 December 2025 at 9am where 24 orphans will participate in cooking lessons.

The Importance of Estate Planning - an educational evening by our Club President-elect, Roger Wee, as a guest speaker.

The challenges of being an administrator or probate for a family member who passed away, is definitely daunting and involved challenging processes. At times, it can be frustrating and definitely expensive.

Plan early to help your heirs avoid unnecessary challenges and stress in 'tidying' up your estate when you passed on. Thank you Roger for the enlightening talk.

Rotary Cooking Class for Stronger & Healthier Community - a project to help develop our youth and prepare them for the F&B industry.

Shout out to our member Jackie Yeo for taking the lead to conduct the cooking class with the help of Community Service Director Nor Aishah Tan Abdullah, Club President Christoph Leonhard and Public Image Director Mohd. Iqmal Mohd. Ivan.

Cooking Skills for a Stronger Community - a sustainable skills development initiative for the under privileged children by Rotary Club Urban Kuching.

23 youths from 3 different groups in Kuching were given the opportunity to attend Rotary Cooking Class on 20 September 2025.

The participants were from Salvation Army, Min Li Secondary School and those whose parents are members of Kuching Autistic Association.

The youths were grouped comprising representatives from the 3 different entities.

This is to inculcate & practice inclusivity.

Their parents were initially uncertained if their children can interact well with other youths from different groups. But the uncertainties faded away as soon as the cooking class proceeded.

The class instructor was a member of Rotary Club Urban Kuching, Rtn. Jackie Yeo who received cooking training in USA.

Participants and their parents were happy to be given the opportunity to participate.

This community project was made possible because of the support and sponsorship from the followings:
1. CCK fresh mart for sponsoring the cooking ingredients
2. WOW Studio for the use of cooking studio at special rental rate

Rotary Club Urban Kuching first participation in charity & food sales!!!

A whooping success for churning out RM14,754 in sales at the Kuching Autistic Association Charity & Food Sales today, 13 July 2025 held at the Association of Churches Sarawak (ACS) building.

Works started about 3 weeks before the actual event by selling roast lamb leg and roast beef cooked by Rotarian Jackie who is a trained cook in the USA. Many of her friends already know that she can cook very well. The fact this time she cooked for a good cause, many placed orders without hesitation.

They were also kind hearted souls and organisations who contributed money to the club as well as cakes for the club to sell.

Cakes such as ponpiah, Indonesian layered cakes, kuih koci, banana cake, yam cake and 10 cartons of Yarra Full Cream Milk were sold out.

The day ended with a lunch at a local cafe full of stories and post mortem as well as what we should do next.
