The National Chapter ALSA Malaysia was officially founded in 2011 with the aims of promoting academic and cross-cultural exchanges between Asian law students. Today, it comprises of more than 1700 members from the established Local Chapters and Observers:

ALSA Malaysia has been active in the ALSA community both in participating, as well as hosting both national and international ALSA events. We aim to promote Malaysia as a choice destination for both post-graduate legal education, and an enriching legal career in Southeast Asia. We have hosted 4 international events.

We are also dedicated to organize two ALSA Malaysia Annual Events, namely:
1. ALSA Malaysia National Conference
2. ALSA Malaysia National Forum
All these events will go through a bidding process, whereby the successful Local Chapter will host for the aforementioned event. ALSA Malaysia focuses on the following:-
1. Promotion of Student Trainee Exchange Programme (STEP) for both local and international law students.
2. Host a National Legal Training Workshop to provided a platform of training and learning for local law students in an area of law. In 2016, the theme is Business Law whereby the training is focused on Mock Court Trial and Arbitration.
2. Partnership with top law firms in Malaysia to offer internship programmes to local and international law students to give them a chance to experience the substantive workings of the legal system in Malaysia. Our partnered law firms have the benefit of working with international law students from top-ranked law faculties in Asia. This presents a mutually beneficial situation for law firms seeking to expand regionally and for law students who wish to obtain an international exposure.
3. Provide a "panel system" to the local students to get attached to the highly established law firms in Malaysia.
4. Hosts a monthly talk or forum on different beneficial topics to broaden law students' horizons on the current issues in Malaysia in addition to global issues.
5. Produces a variety of merchandise which is featured in our published ALSA Malaysia Merchandise Book.
6. Publish an annual ALSA Malaysia Law Journal containing brilliant written works of Malaysian law students.

A rising student organization, it currently comprises 12 member countries and 2 observer countries consisting of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, India, Laos, Vietnam and Macau.
