Kg Chinchin visits Serendah πŸ’‘β™₯️

Recently, the Semai community of Kg Chinchin (Kuala Lipis, Pahang) joined our friends at Kampung Orang Asli Serendah for a deep peer to peer knowledge-sharing exchange.

With new solar panels recently installed by Enact at Kg Chinchin, this visit was the perfect opportunity for Kg Chinchin to see how reliable power can amplify local wisdom.

Facilitated by Native Discovery and Enact, this 2D1N programme of like-minds aimed to inspire the Kg Chinchin through Serendah’s flourishing, community-led ecotourism model.

The Serendah community, young and old, men and women, shared experience hosting visitors and tips on storytelling local narratives followed by a short Enact-led workshop to dream up new local opportunities for Kg Chinchin.

For us, the visit was too short, but sweet. We were left with fond memories of new connections made with Kg Chinchin and hope one day we can visit their kampung too!

From this programme, we believe the future stays bright when communities support one another. ⚑️🀝

Traded the hiking boots for time well-spent at the village with . πŸ₯ΎπŸŒΏ It was a beautiful morning in the village, slowed down to learn the intricate art of weaving and made steamed passage/tapioca cake ('lepat ubi') from the local indigenous women of Kampung Orang Asli Serendah and had a home-cooked indigenous meal prepared by our Native Hosts.

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when women share space, stories, and a meal together. From the first step to the final stitch (and even a nap from a local feline friend!), it was a day of connection we won't soon forget. 😍β™₯️

As we bid farewell to an incredible 2025, we are filled with deep gratitude for everyone who played a part in our journey: our amazing hosts, cohosts, colleagues, partners and allies, thank you! What began as simple seeds of inquiry that typically starts with, "Hey can I learn more about the Orang Asli's way of life?" has revealed an abundance of indigenous knowledge through Native Discovery, and we couldn’t have reached into these depths of indigenous wisdom without your unwavering support. This year has been nothing short of amazing, but it’s only the beginning. We are ready to carry inspiring stories from our indigenous partners in Discovery with this momentum forward. So hello 2026, here we come!

A recent visit to Kampung Orang Asli Serendah was so inspiring, leaving students energized, knowledgeable, and full of incredible stories. The best compliment came from a student, reflecting on the community's wisdom: "It's so peaceful here!" A sentiment we share every time we visit.

​Our Native Discovery Cultural Programme is special because it's authentically led by the Orang Asli community. Rain or shine, we rely completely on our partners' local expertise to ensure all jungle activities are safe and meaningful.

New friends from Sabah, Sarawak & Italy joined us for an immersive nature hike and a truly special Temuan lunch prepared by Genui at Kampung Orang Asli Serendah! 🌿One guest said: "After hotel food, tasting this kampung food is the best. Feels like home!" That's what it's all about. ❀️

With the overload of information we get on a daily basis on our social media, it's good to take a breather and explore what you can learn and do offline. For us, nothing beats coming down to our favourite spot with our favourite people in Kampung Orang Asli Serendah. πŸ•ŠοΈπŸƒπŸžοΈ
