Meet Syed Sardar Ali, author, public intellectual, and founder of Crescent Foundation Pakistan.
With training in mechanical engineering, international relations, and public administration, his academic journey has taken him through the University of Texas at Austin, Japan, and Harvard University, where he studied under Prof. Samuel Huntington. His professional experience has included work with the World Bank in Washington, D.C., the Industrial Bank of Japan, Sony Corporation, and ICI Pakistan.
After returning to Pakistan, he founded Crescent Foundation, where his work has focused on questions of modernization, comparative development, civilizational change, and Pakistan’s future. His wider research was developed through a series of 13 lectures and later published as What Is to Be Done? Modernity, Islam, and Pakistan.
