It's with great sadness that we received the news on the demise of our Advisor, NV Dato Hj Yaacob Hj Daud.

Dato Yaacob was a pillar of strength & spirit for RMNOA. He was involved in every aspect of RMNOA's activities since its official inception 18 years ago. He was still our advisor until his last breath.

He'll be in our thoughts and prayers. Our hearts go out to Datin Fatimah and all members of her family.

May Dato Yaacob's soul rest in peace 🕊️

5. Mode of Play: *Stableford System 36* (Handicap of the day).
6. Kategori: Sila nyatakan umur utk Super Seniors (76 & ke atas), Div A (71-75), Div B (66 - 70), Div C (65 & ke bawah).
Hanya 1 kategori utk wanita.
7. Bayaran penyertaan: *RM300.00* (Green Fees + Buggy + Insurance + Caddie +Makan Tengahari + Makan Malam)

General Veterans Affair Department 22 September 2025

The Executive Committee of RMNOA made a courtesy call
upon the Director General (DG) of the Veterans Affair Department
(Jabatan Hal Ehwal Veteran - JHEV) at the Departmen’s Headquarters,
Medan Tuanku Building, Kuala Lumpur yesterday. The entourage led by the President NV Tan Sri Ramlan B Mohamed Ali plus five other members of the Committee, NV Dato’ Khairul Yusni B Md Yusof, NV Martin A Sebastian, NV Pannir S Veloo, NV Shanmugaraj G and NV
Guoy Tong Kiat was greeted by the DG Maj Gen Dato' Haji Semaon
bin Haji Marjuki upon arrival.

The group was joined by the Director, Policy Section, Mdm
Mahani Bt Aliasak and Deputy Director, Pension Section Lt Col Salim B Ibrahim in the open dsiscussion that pursued.

It was an active and lively exchange of information and ideas.
Amongst the points discussed were:
a. activities carried out by the Department improving the well
being of veterans,
b. Pension adjustment according to SSPA Scheme
c. Follow up to Townhall Discussion on formation of Joined
Council of Veterans Associations, and
d. Guideline on handling of Tabung Pahlawan funds.

Meanwhile, RMNOA put forward for consideration of the Department on:
a. guidelines of dressing code by the veterans in attendance of official functions, and
b. admission into Armed Forces Hospital with appropriate or commensurate status
accorded to veterans who retired from the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency with Flag Ranks.

The President in the closing remark invited the DG and Staff of the Department to join the function of ‘Meet the Veterans’ which will be held by RMNOA in the near future.

Executive Committee Meeting on 17 September 2025

A meeting was held by the RMNOA Executive Committee (EC)
at KD SRI GOMBAK on 17 September 2025 in deliberations of several administrative and management matters as well as following up on the organisation of the planned activities.

A brief summary of the details is
presented in the following for your information.

1. RMNOA Golf Tournament 2025. The golf tournament with
the main objective of fund raising for the association is now confirmed
to be held on 29 October 2025 at the Bangi Golf Resort, Bandar Baru
Bangi. Even if you do not golf, mark the date on your calendar and join
us at the Clubhouse for a fun gathering. Watch this space for more
details coming soon.

2. Courtesy call upon the Director General (DG) of Jabatan Hal
Ehwal Veteran on 22 September 2025. An appointment had been set
up for the Committee to call upon the DG of the Department of
Veterans Affair to develop close rapport and good working relationship as well as to establish and facilitate a strong link in the course of providing assistance and aid to our members.

3. Membership application. The Committee reviewed the
applications received for Active Member and new active members are admitted as in the following :
a. NV Rashid B Awang
b. NV Twinny Wooi Chuan Peng
c. NV Rahim B Kassim

4. Other matters. Planning for the other forthcoming activities
was on going. More details follows.

Visited NV Puah Bok Chuan at IJN, KL 16 September 2025

The President, NV Ramlan Mohamed Ali, Deputy President
NV Phua Hean Sim and Committee Members visited NV Puah Bok
Chuan at Institut Jantung Negara, Kuala Lumpur today.

NV Puah was admitted to IJN on 13 September 2025 Saturday
night due to chest discomfort suspected of cardiac related ailment
undergoing test and investigation procedures.

Left to Right. NV Yong Peng Wai, NV Ramlan Mohamed Ali, NV Guoy Tong Kiat, NV Puah Bok Chuan, NV Shanmugaraj G, NV Phua Hean Sim and NV Moi F**k Soon
Puah joined the RMN in June 1975 in the Supply and Secretariat Branch and retired with the rank of Lt Cdr in June 1996. He was warded for need of close monitoring and observation of cardiac functions while being scheduled for non invasive investigation procedures.

A get-well packet was presented to him on behalf of RMNOA
and we wish him successful procedures with good outcome and early discharge.

French Connection

RMN Officers French Language Course

The Royal Malaysian Navy has been engaged with the French
defence industry even when under British defence dominance. The first
French entry was the 1st Squadron FSC with Exocet MM 38, the best
in the region at that time. As the RMN progressed, more defence
equipment were procured including sensors, weapons, shipbuilding
technology and even submarines. Naval personnel have also been sent
to attend Defence and Staff Colleges in France.

The Royal Malaysian Navy has also been active in global peace and security operations including operations with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and regional disaster relief operations.
French is an important language in the United Nations and
European Union.

The French Navy maintains a significant presence in
the Indo-Pacific organised under ALINDIEN ( French Joint Forces
Commander in the Indian Ocean) and ALPACI (French forces in the
Pacific).

With the proficiency in French, the Royal Malaysian Navy is
open to vast opportunities of exposure as a contributor to global peace and security. These opportunities present the potential for positions in the global and regional arena.

With this in mind, RMNOA, through its liaison with the French Embassy, has secured 10 positions for French Classes, fully borne by the French Government. The Royal Malaysian Navy has accepted the offer with the inaugural classes starting on Monday 11 August 2025.

Who knows, someday, as Naval Veterans, we may see an RMN
Officer in the highest positions of the Office of Military Affairs in the
UN; or a UN Force Commander in a Peacekeeping Mission from the
RMN.

Perhaps an RMN Officer within the Supreme Headquarters of
Allied Forces Europe (SHAPE) or a Commander Task Force in the
Indo-Pacific collective security architecture.
