What do we do with feelings of unworthiness?

One answer is in Isaiah 61:10 – a powerful antidote. God’s covenantal faithfulness promises a lasting restoration. In Christ, we can focus on the joy of being clothed with salvation and covered in righteousness. Our shame is transformed into beauty and honour. We are no longer spiritual exiles, but dignified, holy, cherished people of God.

Shame often occurs when we regard a failure in our performance or a flaw in our appearance so important that it creates a negative opinion about our self-worth.

Change is possible, but it is a process. We can be honest about the pain, the anger, and the disappointment of our past. It requires us to release our faulty belief and suppressed negativity. We can begin to gain a better understanding of the way God values us and trust the Holy Spirit to accomplish change in our life.
