This , on the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, we demand decisive, collective action to confront intersecting crises, address structural inequalities and reclaim the right to health, and SRHR as a fundamental human right.

At a time of growing inequality, shrinking funding, and increasing attacks on bodily autonomy, we must continue to demand health systems that are equitable, people-centred, and grounded in dignity and human rights.

Sexual and reproductive health rights, information, and services must be accessible to everyone — free from barriers, discrimination, coercion, violence, and stigma.

Bodily autonomy is non-negotiable. SRHR is a human right. ✊🌍💖

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, let’s move beyond hygiene alone and talk about dignity, bodily autonomy, rights, care, and justice 🩸🌏

Across Asia and the Pacific, menstruation is still shaped by stigma, silence, unequal access, and harmful gender norms. Everyone deserves access to accurate information, respectful healthcare, safe spaces, and the freedom to manage menstruation without shame or fear.

Together, we can challenge period stigma, centre youth voices, and build a more period-friendly world for all ✨

What does a truly period friendly world look like? 🌏🩸
This Menstrual Hygiene Day, FIRE Chat #2: Reclaiming Menstrual Dignity Across Asia and the Pacific brings together youth leaders, advocates, feminists, and community voices to explore menstruation beyond hygiene alone.

Across Asia and the Pacific, menstruation continues to be shaped by stigma, silence, unequal access, and harmful gender norms. These challenges are often intensified for adolescents, young people, gender diverse menstruators, people living in humanitarian settings, and communities impacted by poverty, displacement, and climate crises.
Through storytelling and dialogue, youth leaders from across the region will reflect on what it means to manage menstruation safely, confidently, and without shame — while imagining more inclusive and supportive futures for all.

Maria Antonieta Alcalde, IPPF Director General, made her first visit to Japan earlier this month 🇯🇵✨

Across two days of conversations, solidarity, and learning, the visit highlighted the power of feminist leadership and global partnerships in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights 🌏💜

From speaking at the “Feminist Diplomacy, International Cooperation, and SRHR” event at the Embassy of Mexico in Japan, to meeting with Japanese Ministers, government officials, and Members of Parliament, the visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to protecting SRHR for women, girls, and vulnerable communities worldwide.

Across our region, nurses are holding communities and health systems together through conflict, climate crises, staff shortages, funding cuts and growing inequalities in access to care. Yet too often, they are working under immense pressure without the recognition, protection, or support they deserve.

But nurses are more than caregivers. They are advocates, trusted community leaders, and frontline defenders of dignity, health, and justice. Building fair and resilient health systems means ensuring nurses are safe, supported, fairly paid, heard, and able to lead. 🩺 🌏

For Lady L, sexual and reproductive healthcare is not simply a profession, but something deeply personal. Supporting women and men to access care — especially during times of crisis — felt, to her, like caring for her own family.

“As a nurse, making family planning accessible means supporting people to make healthy choices for themselves and their future. It is fulfilling to see people live healthier and better lives.”
- Lady L, Nurse, FPOP Camarines Sur Chapter

Her words are a reminder that nursing is rooted not only in skill and service, but in compassion, trust, and the belief that everyone deserves care without judgment. 📣

This , we honour the nurses who continue to show up for their communities every day with courage, empathy, and unwavering commitment. When nurses are empowered, care becomes more accessible, communities become stronger, and more lives are changed.💜

A day of connection and learning 🩵

IPPF Director General Maria Antonieta Alcalde visited the Federation of Reproductive Health Associations of Malaysia (FRHAM), spending time with partners working on the front lines of SRHR. From Kelantan to Penang, we heard stories of care, resilience, and commitment—organisations that have been part of the SRHR and feminist movements for generations. ✊🏽

In a context where change isn’t always easy, FRHAM continues to show what it means to stay grounded in community while adapting and growing—whether through expanding access to HIV care, delivering inclusive SRH services, or reaching those most often left behind. 🌈

She also heard from young leaders shaping the future, making important links between mental health and SRHR, and reminding us that our diversity is our strength. ⚡️

This is how we lead differently: we show up to listen, build trust, and move forward together. 🌏

Across Malaysia, FRHAM’s 13 state Member Associations have been at the forefront of advancing family planning and reproductive health care since the 1950s.

From the Pacific Ocean to the Straits of Malacca, Director General Maria Antonieta Alcalde spent time with the IPPF ESEAOR team in Kuala Lumpur earlier this week. ✨

Her visit was grounded in listening—taking the time to connect with colleagues, hear their experiences, and better understand the realities across the region. In conversations with the Secretariat team, the focus was on how we can continue to support Member Associations in meaningful ways: adding value, staying aligned, and moving forward together. ⚡️

It was a reminder that leadership can be both thoughtful and grounded—creating space for dialogue, gently guiding where needed, and working collectively to navigate challenges and strengthen our shared impact. 🌈

Across Asia and the Pacific, we are witnessing a rise in anti-rights and anti-gender narratives often rooted in fear and misinformation. 📖🌈

In response, Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, International Planned Parenthood Federation East & South East Asia and Oceania Region, and FP2030 Asia - Pacific Hub, and in partnership with the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), developed a toolkit to support advocates in building messages that are grounded in lived realities, and centred on dignity, bodily autonomy and rights
The toolkit seeks to shift focus and reshape public discourse by offering positive narrative approaches for civil society partners, focal points and allies. ✨
