TEEAM at “Think Business, Think Hong Kong” Symposium

TEEAM was honoured to be invited by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to attend the “Think Business, Think Hong Kong” symposium held at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur on 11 August 2026.

The impactful symposium brought together Malaysian and ASEAN enterprises with a 100-strong Hong Kong delegation, providing valuable insights into global market opportunities, investment and cross-border collaboration, as well as Hong Kong’s strategic role as a gateway to Greater China and international markets.

TEEAM members who attended the event included Ts. Lim Sai Seong (Deputy President), Ir. Chang Yew Cheong (Immediate Past President & Council Member), Mr. Suresh Kumar Gorasia (Past President & Council Member), Mr. Andrew Lu (Council Member) and Dr. Jye Lu (Member), among others.

ST Engagement Session on Cable Transition Project: Implementation of ST Directive No. 11/2026 for Manufacturing Group

The Electrical and Electronics Association of Malaysia (TEEAM) was represented by President Mr. Albert Tan at the engagement session on the implementation of Malaysia’s transition to the new electrical cable colour coding in accordance with IEC 60445, held on 5 August 2026.

The session focused on key aspects of the transition, including:

🔹 Implementation timeline
🔹 Production transition and stock management
🔹 Standards and certification
🔹 Cable labelling
🔹 Technical documentation
🔹 Market readiness
🔹 Monitoring mechanisms

The phased implementation aims to harmonise Malaysia’s wiring practices with international standards, minimise the risk of cable misidentification and further enhance electrical safety across the industry.

📌 Key Implementation Date: 1 January 2029

From 1 January 2029, all new electrical wiring works, as well as upgrading and extension works involving new wiring, must use the new IEC 60445 cable colour code. The old colour code will no longer be permitted for new wiring from 1 January 2029.

During the transition period, both the existing and new cable colour codes are permitted to facilitate industry transition, manufacturing, stock clearance and project implementation.

Importantly, there is no requirement to rewire existing electrical installations that complied with the regulations in force at the time of installation. The new colour code applies mainly to new installations, renovations, extensions and upgrading works involving new wiring.

Where an electrical installation incorporates both old and new cable colour codes, the consumer distribution board shall be clearly labelled to indicate the use of mixed cable colour coding. This will alert competent persons carrying out inspection, testing, maintenance or alteration works.

TEEAM remains committed to working closely with Suruhanjaya Tenaga, industry stakeholders and the authorities to support a smooth and effective transition for Malaysia’s electrical and electronics industry.

TEEAM Joined KCCCI’s 80th Anniversary Celebration

The Electrical and Electronics Association of Malaysia (TEEAM) was honoured to attend the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI)’s 80th Anniversary Dinner, held on 8 August 2026 at the Setia City Convention Centre.

Representing TEEAM was Deputy President Ts. Lim Sai Seong, who was joined by Past President Dato’ Dr. CT Siew and Vice President Ir. Dr. Ng Kok Chiang in commemorating this significant milestone.

The dinner was graced by Guest of Honour YB Ng Tze Han, Selangor State EXCO.

The celebration provided a valuable platform to reconnect with fellow business leaders, recognise KCCCI’s eight decades of service to the Klang business community, and further strengthen the spirit of partnership between our organisations.

TEEAM extends its warmest congratulations to KCCCI on 80 years of achievement and looks forward to building stronger networks and creating more opportunities for collaboration in the years ahead.
